Another blog post from Aspyr Media has surfaced about their porting efforts on Civilization: Beyond Earth, and the news is looking good.

Again, it is a mostly Mac-centric blog post, as they told us last time that Linux is giving them less issues than Mac, and Linux directly follows Mac development.

There was this bit though:
QuoteFor the Linux Crowd

Don’t worry, Linux users, we haven’t forgotten about you. In addition to the all-important performance improvements, we’ve also been working on getting mods to work properly (via Steam Workshop). All said, the Linux version is still coming along nicely and is close behind the Mac version; at this point we’d say there’s probably a 2-3 week gap between the platforms.

Looks like we may yet get it before the end of the year, and this is fantastic news. A bit hyped for the new Civilization since the setting appeals to me much more than the normal Civ games.

See their full blog post here.

It's worth re-noting that the Linux port of the new Geometry Wars is being done by Aspyr Media, and it arrives this month. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I truly love these guys at Aspyr. They do an outstanding job plus they are so open and collaborative towards the community.

This.

They're great. Great ports (so far!), great atitude, great flow of information - heck, at this stage I'll friggin' buy whatever comes out with the "Aspyr" stamp on.

Wow!

Just took a look at the full games' list published for MAC by Aspyr... If they could port all these games on Linux it would be awesome!

When the magazines start looking for candidates for developers of the year lets make sure Aspyr get to the top of the list, they deserve some awards for their ports.

Aspyr is indeed doing a great job! However I hope Beyond Earth is not as bad as user reviews seem to show or their sales could be not that good.

My advice is; Ignore user reviews. It's got a metascore of around 80 based on 46 reviews. That is pretty darn good.

Yes this.

My wife would go potty for RCT and I have some of the others in my Steam Library already, but not Linux port yet (Duke Nukem Forever would be nice!)

I'm still waiting for a blog post concerning BL2 and the performace issue with AMD graphics drivers.

Not sure if I should be happy about a company that seem to forget about recently released ports. It would be just fair to at least answer, wouldn't it? Fair enough, it's more fun to write blog posts about highly anticipated upcoming ports than stuff that gives you headaches.

Or has there been any response to the AMD issue that I missed?
