Io Interactive are working on another Hitman game

By - | Views: 6,386

While not necessarily Linux-specific, Io Interactive who made HITMAN (which Feral Interactive ported to Linux) have confirmed they're working on another.

I totally missed their official blog post about the GOTY release, which contained this:

One last thing about our next Hitman game; I want to let you know that we’re making great progress and we have exciting new features and some franchise firsts, which we can’t wait to tell you all about. You’ll have to wait a little longer as we don’t plan to start talking about that until some point in 2018.

Extremely light on details, but this could mean no Season 2 for the current HITMAN if they're working on a new game. Slightly disappointing if that is the case, as the current game is awesome. However, it's pretty fantastic to know that Io Interactive are continuing on to create more games as a now independent developer.

I should note though, that by "next Hitman game" they could literally mean a second season of the current HITMAN with some upgrades to the game engine. We just don't know, but it's going to be fun to find out more next year.

Hopefully Feral Interactive will keep in close contact with Io Interactive to bring their future titles to Linux, as they would be very welcome. I imagine they would be a pretty safe bet to continue working with and porting their games as far as Linux sales are concerned.

Hope Feral or they themselves make it on Linux!

About the franchise first, what about multiplayer agents/hitmen. Missions where multiple targets has to be eliminated simultaneously or mssions against each other, where the one to eliminate the target wins. In such a scenario players would be able to kill each other, but also hide from each other by using disguises and so on... I don't know, just a thought.

Anyways, as said, I hope to see it on Linux as well. Preferably same day release or very close to same day release, to we get some more Elusive Targets

Edit: I also hope to see a return to St. Petersburg

They are an indie studio essentially now they have support of the Linux community for insisting with 2k that a linux port be allowed. Which means as long as the quality is there I would have no problem buying their newest hitman day and date for linux.
