Quoting: CatKillerThere are people on the Internet who say anything.Yeah, I know. My point was simply that there were statements made just a matter of days ago, when people raised concerns, that've aged rather like milk. I just found it kinda funny!
This one's been flagged as having PSN integration for ages, and was always going to be part of having PSN as a Rockstar/EA/Ubisoft-style parallel store and launcher move. The lesson recently was that you can't accidentally sell games that need a thing in countries where you don't have the thing.
Square Enix shifting from "quantity to quality" and be more multi-platform

When third-party content became exclusive for any reason other than hardware constraints between wildly varying machines (which stopped being an issue after the 32-bit era), it was just moneyhatting that led directly to some of the problems we have today, in my view. The way that some folks are reacting to Square-Enix ditching exclusivity is really quite shocking and "tribal"!

Quoting: CyborgZetaProbably a controversial opinion, but multiplatform is the way to go these days.Sounds totally reasonable to me!
Quoting: CyborgZetaExclusives no longer make sense to me. They were fun back in the 6th Gen Console generation and earlier, but just seem old-fashioned today. The only exclusives that ever made sense to me were first-party platform-holder ones, as the entire point of them was to establish and retain a userbase - and perhaps to some degree to set the tone of the company's product-line.

Erm, weren't there people out on the interwebs saying a couple of weeks ago that PSN requirements weren't going to lead to new launchers and similar stuff being added to future Sony PC releases?

Quoting: neon_soaked_chryssalidI've already got a copy on the way! That game has been such a big thing in my family that I didn't even have to think about it once pre-orders opened. Is it a little overpriced? Probably. Will it still worth it anyway? I'm almost positive it will be!
Quoting: ShabbyXMaybe _now_ my 7yo will eat his vegetables, cause cooking and eating is all he does in the game itself :DCan we expect pics when you guys cook something from it?

Quoting: Talon1024And this is what it looks like.Yep! I bloody love it. I've got Mupen64Plus-Next set up on my Steam Deck with correct filtering and anti-aliasing, but upscaled, and it looks wonderful - authentic, but freshened up a little for the higher-resolution display.

I really wanted to do my own photos for this piece, but Amazon UK didn't have enough copies to cover their pre-orders, so I won't get mine for at least a few weeks.

*I'm quite fond of that look in spite of it not being one of my favourite consoles by a long shot, and seeing N64 games rendered by the company who released the hardware looking all jagged and with incorrect colours (presumably they used 4-point bilinear filtering, instead of 3-point as the original hardware did, which typically makes these games look "off"), really bugs me.

Quoting: ToddLThey would rather lazily put out N64 games as is and continue to rake in the money from those poor souls that pay to play these games with their crappy subscriptions. They don't even emulate those correctly! The N64 has a pretty distinct look*, and they do it a disservice on that subscription library of theirs. You can upscale these games and retain hardware-accurate filtering - it's just that Nintendo themselves, who are often all about leaning on nostalgia, don't seem to be bothered about getting it right on this occasion.
