Great timing, I just bought it to give it a go.
Actually since the sale started I picked up a lot of games I've been wanting to play a while now.

The Libretro Team and other emulators are being ripped off by companies trying to make a quick buck

Thanks. So then as a entrapenour then wouldn't compliance be as simple as shipping a fork of libretro and then requiring the device to connect to the internet on first boot to download those parts that "can't be bundled into a sold product"
I mean, it seems like there are plenty of ways to comply with the licenses if you know what you're doing.

Quoting: NotSoQTQuoting: ElectricPrismIs he implying they are literally selling the emulators at a extra cost beyond the hardware?AFAIK, some of the libretro cores are ports from emulators that simply cannot be sold, due license. So these shouldn't be shipped with any paid hardware ever.

So what's the problem?
Retro wants the companies to contribute code back to the base and keep their logo and name on it?
If so, that sounds reasonable to me.

This is a weird read, I am unsure what "selling" the author is referring to.
Many companies sell hardware bundled with free software. Is he implying they are literally selling the emulators at a extra cost beyond the hardware?

Money in hand, but I'm not putting it into the box until I know
A ) What Hardware it has -- CPU, GPU, Storage (Is it SSD M.2, etc.. 5400rpm won't cut it for me.)
B ) What Games can it play Day 1.
C ) How easily can I play using my Xbox 1 / Dual Shock 4 / Steam Controller ( I Imagine I will hate the Joystick thing)
There's a market for a "plug and play linux gaming console", I heard that the Alienware Steam Machines were having technical issues overheating amongst other things which choked the market out, I hope this Atari doesn't have similar technical issues with that fanless design.

Steam now has a form of platform-specific wishlisting, to help developers see demand

If I could filter my wishlist by platform that would be great.
I used to add Windows games to my wishlist and then pop in to request Linux versions. After a bit of work I helped convince to get a few games ported.
I removed all Windows games after a while just cuz I have 0% interest in purchasing no windows games.

Who does this series appeal to? Serious question.
I have a very bad habbit of buying up Linux Games in mass and wonder if I would enjoy playing this series.

Is there any mechanical advantage to Civ 6 vs 5?
It seems like 5 has advanced tuned mechanics and content whereas 6 is new and full of bugs like no cross platform multiplayer.
Its just that newer isnt always better.
Age of Empires 2 vs 3 are miles apart and 2 dominates 3 in executing play style mechanics flawlessly.
Sometimes a fork should not be a spork and a spoon should just be a soon.
