Lucasfilm Point-And-Click Classics Zak McKracken, LOOM and The Dig Now Available On GOG

Thanks for the detailed information, DrMcCoy and Shmerl.

Quoting: FurorI have problems installing the deb package of Loom and The Dig, it says ok but it didn't install anything. Anyone more have this problem?

I think it's because of the EULA. QApt doesn't work for me either (I'm assuming that's what you're using, since you're on Kubuntu too). Using dpkg works though:

sudo dpkg -i gog_loom_1.0.0.5.deb

and

sudo dpkg -i gog_the_dig_1.0.0.5.deb

Alternatively, you can extract the games from the packages.

Adventure Platformer Dreaming Sarah Out Of Beta And Available DRM Free And On Steam For Linux

Thanks for mentioning that. I didn't realize it was there. Their homepage is awful and doesn't mention where you can buy the game, other than on Steam. I tried to find it on all the stores I could think of when I wrote the article, but I forgot about IndieGameStand.

Quoting: FrasierCraneI could only bring the inventory up with Tab

Thanks; I hadn't noticed that, but that makes it playable at least. Tab also brings up the menu at the top, so that it's possible to exit the game a bit more cleanly (you still have to force close the window I think).

I got a reply from the devs on Twitter, and they're apparently looking into these issues:

Gunmetal Arcadia, A Retro Platformer From The Developer Of Super Win The Game Public Test Build Released

Note that this is just a game feel build meant to gather feedback to make the controls feel just right. As a demo it feels very barren, but I'm sure we'll get a build further down the line better suited to generate excitement for the upcoming game.

Quoting: GuestThanks for the test flesk, so it seems this was a rushed port from a tablet version…

It would seem like it, but the game actually released for Windows long before it was available for iOS, and later Android. The game runs on Java, and I think it's likely that they've just messed up a bit in packaging the game for Linux.

Reminds me of Gunman Clive, which unfortunately isn't available for Linux.

First-person Puzzler Parallax - Game No. 1000 On Steam For Linux

Thanks for clarifying. That sounds like a neat feature. The Last Tinker has something similar, but that's a very different kind of game.

Looks very interesting. Are the platforming elements challenging at all or mostly trivial?

Why Are We Still Dual Booting?

Quoting: CybaCowboyAlthough initially against the change, the wife doesn't mind Ubuntu these days, though misses Windows-based operating systems when it comes to things like updating/upgrading our Sony Xperia smartphones (like most Android manufacturers, Sony only allow updates/upgrades to be applied using a Windows-based computer) and my daighter's LeapPad products...

What kinds of updates? I have a Sony Xperia Z2 but haven't ever had any need for Windows (or a computer at all) to update anything on it.

It's notoriously difficult to convert videos to a format readable on my old Creative Zen with video software on Linux and the software shipped with the unit doesn't work well with Wine. I have pretty much stopped using it now though, so it doesn't bother me, and my Android tablets are more tolerant with file formats.

Great article, and I agree 100%. There are many Windows games I would love to play, but I simply don't think it's worth the hassle anymore.
