Quoting: mr-eggThey have been a bit shady, but their game was so ambitious to start with its been hard for them to meet expectations. Really, they sold the game on a nice aesthetic. Are they really to blame for people wanting eye candy ?Not sure what you mean... the game looks great overall. The problems are the many bugs and the very half-assed content for anything but AI skirmish and multi-player matches.

For the controversy, I think your are missing a major point Liam. One of the main reason why people complain is because Uber E. is trying to "game" steam's review system and conveniently getting rid of well deserved negative reviews of the original deeply flawed release (and even to this date the game is still more of an buggy beta with lots of place holder content than a proper release).

hmm... somehow I think it is a bit sad that they release what is basically a Civ5 mod but cut down on features (compared to the Civ5 base game with all the expansions), and now they seem to be adding those features again via DLCs.
Nightside, The Awesome Traditional RTS Game Exits Early Access

Like most RTS, this one is probably more CPU limited than the typical action game where only the GPU (and not your brain either ;) ) is really pushed.
To me this game could have benefited from more polishing... not really ready to leave early access yet. It has also graphical issues on the sandy bridge intel iGPU. Last but most least... those video cut-scene are so amateurish that it would have been probably better to remove all together...
But the ingame RTS part seems pretty solid so far.

Quoting: moltobennyEnjoying this very much. However, is it just me or does it need some serious graphics optimization? I can run most games on the highest setting with great framerates, but this simple RTS, I have to downgrade to medium just to keep the framerate from dropping too low.

Finished the game (takes about 10h)... it's actually better played with a Xbox360 controller and the game is very linear and easy (except for some of the boss battles that can be frustratingly hard). Inventory and item stuff is also somewhat lacking... basically you can only find other weapons, and the item upgrade system (while relatively complex in design) almost never makes sense to use.
Had fun with it, but Torchlight2 is by far the better ARPG. If the Hellsing games finally make it over to Linux, I would also recommend those over VV, as they have some interesting innovations to the game-play.
Would give it a 7/10.

It's about the only open-source engine that comes with mature tools and several big commercial releases under it's belt (however many years ago). Especially in regards to it's networking engine for 30+ players in a twitch style game (FPS or Tribes like games), you will hardly find an engine (open-source or not) that has more proof that it can do that well.

Well to be fair, the current Torque3D MIT version has really almost nothing to do anymore with GarageGames (or what ever company owned them when things got bad). After they more or less dumped the source, a lot of long time users took it up and are now managing this community project. They even moved the community off the garagegames servers and are now on Torque3D.org.
Therefore all the hate is really misdirected, and the new Torque3D MIT project is shaping up rather nicely.

This one is so addictive that you end up mastering the relatively high difficulty level anyways ;)

Quoting: GuestThe trailer makes that game seem awfully hardcore. There’s no chance I’m buying this without checking the difficulty with a demo first. Musical games are often way too difficult.
