Quoting: pleasereadthemanuali had issues with games like open arena and super tux, once i updated my system...Quoting: dvdI find it weird that people find it weird that a company supports our platform of choice. I wish more devs had an option to bypass the bullshit stores. Why is it so necessary to put the game on these stores?Because Proton, which is only usable by most people on Steam, provides a better experience in most cases than a native Linux version.
That's not necessarily my experience, although I recently had to install old libraries to get Loop Hero from GOG to work again, but a lot of Linux users do say as much. I also had to manually patch a library for another native Linux game from Itch. And delete some old bundled libraries for a Ren'Py game from Itch...
But I do support devs releasing their games wherever they want. It's just, supporting Linux natively long-term, even with open source engines, seems far more challenging than other platforms.

Kind of shocked you can use generic mice with it as well. Though of course you need either a USB-C or a dock to actually use generic mice...

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 adding EA AntiCheat, breaking it on Steam Deck / Linux

i played plants vs zombies 1 and loved it, then they destroyed plants vs zombies 2 with dlc or something like that.
then they made this spin off that... i havent played but dont seems like an good game, i mean, i liked plants vs zombies for the gameplay not the characters, so i dont see the point of playing with then in an completely different game, especially if that means they wont ever make an "plants vs zombies 3" but an sequel for the spin offs...
and as if that wasnt bad enough now they break the steamdeck compat with this...

nah, i might be dreaming...
btw, their site is quite cool! it looks professional (by professional i mean those sites that act like an ad for an product instead of sites target at niche audiences like us)

i think we can try to predict the next few months with a few different approachs, then keep the one who was better able to predict the trends

Quoting: EikeQuoting: Liam DaweQuoting: EikeThe linear approximation to the curve really needs to be split into two parts! (somewhere in 2021?)Why?
... or the software could come up with something non-linear?
Because the linear approximation systematically overestimates all of the oldest points and underestimates all of the youngest points (except a single one we would attribute to some measurement error, probably located in the far east). The line doesn't fit, and this not in a "jumpy" way (as to be to be expected), but in a systematical way. The curve to be approximated isn't linear, at least not over the whole time.
So we could either try two linear curves, or some curve with a slope (slightly) increasing over time.
