Vote For GOG To Make Galaxy Open Source
16 July 2014 at 8:41 pm UTC

Quoting: ShmerlFor example if GOG open the client, they'll have to deal with bug reports, pull requests (i.e. features and fixes requested to be added to the code) and so on. While normally that's very useful, to actually handle all that, GOG will have to allocate resources (i.e. people, time etc.). I'd say it's worth doing, but GOG can think it's just an extra burden.
I was thinking that, but at the same time, GOG will have to allocate resources to Galaxy anyway, so the people maintaining Galaxy can handle that. What's more, having additional capable hands working for free would surely negate any added load as well.

Quoting: ShmerlI think more than governance, the overhead of running the open source project can be an issue, especially if GOG never did it before.
Can you provide more detail? What overhead?

Torchlight & Torchlight II Look Set For Linux & Steam
16 July 2014 at 2:25 pm UTC

I really hope Torchlight for Linux hits GOG as well. GOG has given the game away for free twice now. Unfortunately, Edward Rudd, porter of Torchlight for Linux, didn't know that GOG was to support Linux later this year, casting doubt on the Linux version hitting GOG in the near future. I also hope Torchlight 2 hits GOG sometime as it still hasn't. At this rate, Torchlight 2 will be out for Linux before Torchlight 2 is out on GOG.

Quoting: FutureSutureThe game came out in 2010 for crying out loud! Marvellous! Love this sort of effort.
I still fail to see how a game that came out only four years ago can really be considered old.
Same, but that is what CD Projekt RED apologists will have you believe, and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is only 3 years old at that. Darksiders must be ancient in comparison.

This is completely and utterly amazing news. The fact that Darksiders is being brought to Linux garners a lot of good will with me, plus it increases the chances of the sequel coming to Linux exponentially. The game came out in 2010 for crying out loud! Marvellous! Love this sort of effort.

This looks like it should be a mode in Natural Selection 2, not an entirely separate game/purchase.

Hopefully I'll be able to play this game one day without the game crashing, freezing, or doing anything else it's not supposed to. It looks like a fun, complex game, I just wish it worked.

Hopefully this kind of stuff will happen on GOG as well. Capsized doesn't even have the Mac OS client on GOG currently.
