Mesa 17.1 release is now scheduled for May

LOL, I don't think many people care about open-source drivers to be honest. Most desktop users who buy these cards just want them to work and not care about the status symbol of having open-source drivers.. LMAO.

Also NVIDIA has been sitting on the 1080ti for quite some time, its not a new card, its the same TI spin their being doing forever, the 11xx cards will already be undergoing driver/performance/development tweak testing atm!

RX Vega set to launch mid year, so still VERY far away, plenty of time for NVIDIA to at least announce their new cards.

I think NVIDIA plans to have 1100 series cards ready for VEGA, so AMD is going to find it hard asking for that $600-700 price-tag it no doubt will have on launch. Already I think AMD has LOST a significant percentage of videocard buyers due to the 1080ti, which is exactly what I predicted NVIDIA to do, they never pass up a opportunity to snatch market share.

Wine 2.3 released with more Direct3D command stream and Shader Model 5 work

Witcher 3 is such a hungry game, your going to need at least %70 of windows performance for it to be playable at 1080p.

That's going to take a VERY long time, the reason why I suggested TW3 devs could make Vulkan happen is because VulkanAPI is getting momentum which often encourages the industry to move along with API's, if SkyrimSE/Fallout4 get Vulkan then tw3 is going to look pretty weak in comparison.

Just keep in mind the Switch is apparently running Skyrim under Vulkan ;)

If we're lucky Witcher3 could get a VulkanAPI update in the future since it looks like most the Bethesda games will get it I don't see w3 devs excluding themselves.

PS. VulkanAPI runs 1:1 parity with windows under Wine, fyi.

Looks like the experimental Linux version of Arma 3 will get the 64bit treatment

Miracle, ironically if they switched their engine to Vulkan then they could spin a very effective linux port themselves rather then doing this slow outsourcing work thing which sees the Linux users unable to enjoy mods or multiplayer due to version mismatches!

NVIDIA have announced the 1080 Ti and it's a beast
1 March 2017 at 3:39 pm UTC

NVIDIA releasing this sooner rather then later is likely a tactic to grab up some of that top-tier player money whom might have spent it with AMD and VEGA, but since AMD has decided to not talk about the actual hardware there is a good chance its barely faster then a 1080... I will be surprised if AMD can make VEGA on par with a 1080ti.

Ultimately it comes down to price really, hopefully they don't price the VEGA out of the market because we all know that new memory type is ultra-expensive!

LG are making a VR headset, to be shown off at Valve's GDC booth

Its in Valves and everyone's best interest to promote VR, including more hardware. The whole VR scene is already taken some SERIOUS blows this year with oculus and zenimax nonsense, good chance that platform dies out within a year! (because no one wants to pay 20% tax on their games and headsets in a walled garden scenario!)

Looks like the Serious Sam 4 release date may have been shown in an 'easter egg'

unlikely, most early access releases have little idea of when the final build is done, that is even more true with a VR title.

Phoronix saw over double increase in Deus Ex frame rates on his rx470 test. Very nice indeed.

Fumbling around with tanks in War Thunder on Linux, some thoughts
23 February 2017 at 5:20 am UTC

Its a good game, I have allot of the tanks and planes but was disappointed with mid tier Japanese editions (their BR is WAY too high for allot of them) so I have taken a LONG break from the game until I see some BR changes or something to that line up.

Most the Tier4 Japan tanks are a hilarious joke in a frustrating way, there is the bulldog and that small recoiless tank which are fun, but that's it!
