Wine 2.2 released with even more Shader Model 5 instructions and work towards Direct3D command stream

Quoting: [email protected]Wine IS one of those reasons.

Wine has no influence on Developers coming to Linux what so ever unless they intend to use it for their ports, in that situation its unlikely the developer would even bother with a native given their willing to just use Wine for their port.

Only down-side to Wine, is programs ran through it are counted as Windows platform, or excluded all together which is what valve does now I believe.

Aspyr Media state they are looking at ways to improve Civilization VI performance on Linux

If they worked with VulkanAPI then it would mean being able to use that on the Windows platforms (not just win10) also, so 2 for 1 sort of deal.

Sudden Strike 4 looks like an amazing RTS that will have Linux support

Sorry I didn't realize SteamOS+AND+Steam Machines were a huge global success, I guess there must be a private website in the corner of the world somewhere that talks about them often which I haven't seen..... (nevermind the fact steam devs called it a NON success themselves... lol)

I never said steam hijacked linux btw, I was only commenting on what some people seem to think (and often won't think otherwise)..

Wondering if the GL Threading patch that's being worked on could help this title since its CPU bounded pretty hard?

For those timed missions I got the mod that only allows the timer to tick down once spotted, so you could move in and surround the target before it even started to tick down. Still was hard but made some sense?

I find the best route for XCOM2 is to research and buy items to buff your soldiers such as armors and addons. The Soldier survivability is pretty important because once you loose half your team in a mission it becomes very hard to finish it with just 2 guys left. (upgrade the squad number at some point also I guess).

Quoting: Mountain Manend-game remains a mythical realm that I may never see with my own eyes.

Don't worry, your not missing much at all. Did you finish the first game, then boom that's your ending, you kill a horde of Aliens then haft to beat the 1 or 2 bosses at the end. It hints at XCOM3 being about underwater terror from the depth but I dunno if that will happen...

GDC sounds like it will be fun this year with AMD, NVIDIA, Khronos, Unity & Croteam all talking Vulkan

Most developers don't even bother looking I suspect, they expect EVERYTHING to be included with the Vulkan SDK and ignore community contributions like this.. Shrug...

I would just play LongWar on Normal, while I like a challenge, I dislike restarting a game 5000 times to get past 1 mission.

Croteam say all Serious Sam games are on their way to Linux with Vulkan, also VR on Linux teaser from Valve

Croteam doesn't beat around the bush, if only more developers could be like this! I love the fact they are just going full Vulkan now. That's a smart move even thought it took them a while to get to that stage, other developers prefer to spend their time complaining about missing tool sets (there coming, do what can be done and move forward I say!)

Also, isn't SeriousSam a little fast pace for VR? its like DOOM4, I can't imagine anyone doing well in VR with those games!
