Quoting: Guestthanks nvidia for not backporting dlss 3+ to my rtx 2000 series gpu, it is a good lesson for me, to never buy nvidia gpu again

It's due to new hardware components more so then anything else. I do hope FSR3 can work on 20 series cards in some fashion.

5 years ago Valve released Proton forever changing Linux gaming

Now if we could tuck away support 10-bit (30bit) colour support, HDR, AutoHDR and extended multimonitor and VRR type support then I think linux would be in the magic zone.

Atm those things are very roughly supported, basically non properly working support.

Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition gets a GOG release and 75% off

Quoting: fabertawehi-res texture DLC

For starters its NOT optimized which should be obvious given the size. There are mods on nexus that do a better job.
Secondly it can cause issues with other graphical mods such as face texture mods etc..

The hi-res DLC has a lot of ultra high resolution normal maps that don't help things except make everything larger. Again, investigate nexus for mods that improve the pack or replace it for a better experience.

Lastly FO4 is getting a Next-Gen update sometime soon (unless Todd lied to us), so playing it now may be premature!

Quoting: pageroundIf it connects to the internet, its better to be safe than sorry. I'll accept the performance hit. Will be interested to see the magnitude.

Depends on the risk. A lot of these need direct access to the hardware or specific server access.
If you enable all mitigations the hit in game performance will be quite noticeable. Where does it end? when the PC is spending 90% of its resources on security patching...

The risks are at the USERS fault in most cases.

Proton Experimental fixes Street Fighter 6 and disables NVAPI for Rachet & Clank

I didn't think Rachet and Clank even touched anything from NVAPI, did they start using it on the PC release for some reason?

Quoting: Liam DaweThis is perfectly normal for quite literally any hardware. There’s really nothing to look deeper into.

I suppose so. It's the time frame that made me say that though, it doesn't seem that long ago that you'd be a lucky winner to be able to even get a Steam Deck.

The refurbs are also from cancelled or returned items that may not have even been opened up.
Not uncommon. I would be interesting to know the exact amount of refurbs available.

Oh btw still not sold in AU/NZ directly, you gotta buy through 3rd party which ads like $100 to the pricetag (no joke)

NVIDIA driver 535.98 now available for Linux

I've read it helps, but doesn't fix.
The issue is even present under Win11 in certain situations. Quite a weird desktop issue to have and could be made worse with multiple screens connected.

Oh, well it shouldn't be. That should be Silver.

Yeah bought it just before, take a while to download it.

I heard the vulkan renderer is broken and will crash continuously so be aware!

Better support for the launcher is really kind of needed as there is a flood of people on Linux who need to use all these workarounds to play the game meanwhile its set as GOLD on protondb... GOLD is not for workarounds people!
