I bet there will be just enough native games to buy from.

Baldur's Gate 3 hits over half a million Steam user reviews - ranked 19th most popular

Just about to finish my 2nd playthrough of Rogue trader, after that i may give BG3 another go as well. It's a great game, also a good first choice if you're just getting into these kinds of games. They've done away with the larianisms in this one.

Quoting: brokeassbenI'm having pretty serious performance issues after the update. Also have a mesa update that just installed, so I'm not certain of the culprit. Getting about 15 fps during heavy fighting. Anyone else seeing issues on Radeon?

EDIT: Looks like performance drop is only on the map, Shoots.

The performance of the whole game is abysmal, maybe gets better next year.

Quoting: GuestPink slips being delivered like hot pancakes, meanwhile prices keep rising and rising, something doesn't add up 🤔🤔
I mean, if they are selling less, maybe they could try lowering prices.

Games actually got (relatively) cheaper compared with what they used to cost 20 years ago, while the costs for making them have exploded over the same period. The problem is more the opposite of what you suggested - it's rock hard to deliver the quality people want for the price they're willing to pay.

This, though it's probably also worth noting that executives and board members who have what could be considered largely outsized salaries in comparison to the amount of work they actually do, and have a less than open mind to the suggestion of taking a pay cut instead of costing large swaths of others their entire livelihood would go a long way to make things easier, especially during the current global economic situation.

Since January last year i bought RT and BG3 on release, plus i got WotR with season pass on a GoG sale; that's about 150 EUR overall, really hard to justify even on a job with a degree.

People in Germany with the same job earn 10 times more; these are the countries that video games are mainly made for.

Quoting: NociferSo, after years of getting his balls busted by people using GE-Proton with Lutris/Heroic/etc and breaking their games and then complaining about it, despite him patiently explaining to them over and over and over that they shouldn't be using GE-Proton outside of Steam because they risk breaking their game and that instead they should be using Wine-GE, it seems GloriousEggroll has finally caved in and decided to provide an officially nice way for people to use GE-Proton outside of Steam.

(In Tychus Findlay's voice) Hell, it's about time.

- Signed: a happy user of GE-Proton outside of Steam

I'm not that surprised by this, on reddit I've encountered several posts where the person trying to explain wine/proton did not even know the relationship between the projects and just said people should use the latter no matter what.

Maybe i'm wrong but to me what seems especially funny is how quick they went from 'non-profit' to profit-oriented.

Quoting: BlackBloodRumDo they not realise that this software has a high enough level of access to do any number of activities on their computer, and hide it from the OS and the user? For example, hide a running process from "Task manager" on Windows, and continue running even after they close the game?

Can you really justify that level of access just for a game?

Maybe a bit pessimistic, but i'm not really surprised by it. Have you heard techbros or (in earlier times) PC magazines talk abot free software or software freedom? I sure haven't. The only time you (rarely) see this stuff is to maybe to compare it to something else to see how slow/fast it is. And it's been going like that for ages. It also reminds me how parents refuse to do parental controls on devices.

Quoting: dvdWhat boggles my mind is how game reviews are: Baldurs Gate 3 sits at 97% and Rogue trader at 57%. Don't get me wrong, i love bg3 but Rogue trader is just the better game.

Sure, grimdark sci-fantasy parody-esque drivel without a single heroic figure (that wouldn't exist without D&D) beats one of the oldest and most detailed D&D settings with over 400 novels and 38 years of supplements.

Is what I'd like to say, but being made by Owlcat, I dunno, you may be right.

I finished the campaign on the first, after playing through i definitely feel like it was rushed or too big for them to handle within their constraints: honestly it feels like the game ends early/mid chapter 4; every companion quest after chapter 3 might as well trigger early in chapter 4; in BG3 there was at least something you could say to them in the end game. Those 2 (or even chapter 3) felt like they were just boss dungeons.

I know there are not many cRPGs with direct sequels, (only Pillars comes to mind) but i think having an episodic release might have benefited the game. I was laughing at the story from act 4 to 5.

I must say I really missed something unique like the underwater prison break in BG3. I think that quest has to be the best gaming experience for me this year. In rogue trader i liked the space combat, and the boss fights in general. Although it feels like the final boss was just a copy of the act 4 boss.

I liked that they did away with RT, also that they have a ton of options to tune gameplay and difficulty, including the vital speed up sliders. Hopefully they implemented that in BG3 too, would be a massive QoL upgrade.

I kinda liked the whacky settings, although i think they missed an opportunity to turn the formula on its head: make it difficult/annoying to play a good guy/girl in the game. As far as i know Tyranny was the only game that tried to do that, but that missed the shot too. I expected more obstruction from the empire playing as an Iconoclast.

I had some difficulty with the gameplay at some points (mostly due to bad builds), but it is clear that they tuned down the difficulty from earlier games (or maybe just the underlying system is simpler/more forgiving).

Sorry for the rant. ( I had similar ones when i played bg3 )
