Quoting: iiariFor those of you who played it, what is it exactly? Never heard of it.

There's an GoL article about it linked. Basically a walking simulator where you're the only one on a space station, trying to cope with loneliness and boredom.
Whoops, thanks. Missed the link. Thanks!

So, here's what I'm doing this weekend and have been the past week:

Native:
* Always and forever - Rocket League
* Insurgency - Absolutely gripping MP, love it, but it's SO hard though and the players online so good, I rage quit every few months
* The Marble Game that recently went native (don't remember the full name now)
* Half Life 2 (believe it or not, never played it. Actually not loving it so far. It feels as old as it is. Maybe we *don't* want a HL3?)
* Interstellar Marines - Great after the updates
* X11 flight sim

Proton:
* Always and forever 2 - Angels Fall First
* Battlefield Bad Company 2: People told me it has better control balance than any of the recent Battlefields and isn't quite as runny and gunny, and I agree. Someone started a Linux user server too. Great fun.
* Some new user mods for 2005 Star Wars Battlefront II

Quoting: mock²³Another "space game" that completely ignores Newtonian physics or inertia. How original.
Oh, really, you really can't complain about that too much now, as there are currently a good number of titles that allow you do full Newtonian flight, although many of these need to be played through Proton...
Among those that don't, seems worth mentioning Helium Rain.
Absolutely Helium Rain. And don't forget X4. Astro Kill is another native title where you can turn off flight assist.

Proton playable games I can think of where you can go partly or fully Newtonian:

Void Destroyer 2 and the first title as well
Elite Dangerous
Angels Fall First
House of the Dying Sun (strafe mode)
I-War 1 and 2 (older)

I'm amazed there's that strong an RTS market out there given the mechanics haven't changed all that much over time. I guess people have to love the setting...

If I'm remembering, they did a demo that seemed to work on Proton...

Quoting: EhvisStill haven't seen anything about collision damage. That probably means the AI / autopilot is still flaky. I dread the moment when this will be activated though. :D
Weak collision damage doesn't both me. If I just spent 100+ hrs to buy a shiny new ship, and lose it because I clip a station antenna, I'd be REALLY ticked!

Quoting: PatolaYeah, one thing we thoroughly lack are specialized linux game streamers, people that episodically explore, play and teach how to play specific games on youtube or twitch. I wish I had time to do that with X4.
There are certainly a lot of Linux gamers posting Youtube videos, but you're right there aren't that many streaming. That said, for a game like this, I'm not sure the streaming value needs to be platform specific...

Oh, BTW, for anyone willing to use Proton/Wine, Elite Dangerous is now playable...

art of rally is bringing a stylized racing experience to Linux later this year

BTW, others feel the best and most realistic rally game on the desktop was Richard Burns Rally for Windows from 2004. It actually works beautifully in Wine, including force feedback, and in my opinion holds up very well today. It also has a fantastic training mode.
