Preview: Jupiter Hell, the modern roguelike and spiritual successor to DRL (Doom the roguelike)
17 December 2018 at 2:21 am UTC

I know it's common for text roguelikes to have this kind of controls (F to shoot, G to grab, etc, using all the keyboard), and I have played original DoomRL, but it's strange to see the same in a 3D game. I'd rather prefer more simple and modern controls. What about mouse and gamepad support? Is it there or is it planning?

Why so much hatred to Gaben? Is it envy? He did't become a billionaire for nothing, he earned his billions by making good games and creating the best digital store for PC games. He also saved PC gamers from console slavery and popularizes Linux gaming. Make your own Steam if you want to get rich. Rantings on the Internet definitely won't make you a millionaire.

The excellent SC Controller gamepad tool has two fresh releases available

Quoting: kuhpunktDo you have any idea if Valve reached out to this dev?
Why would Valve do that? Valve want you to use Steam while SC Controller is intended for using Steam Controller without it.

Quoting: alvarlagerlofWhat they really need to do is update the design of the client and store. Sooo much is just a web page. It sucks badly and loads slow. Everything looks outdated and is sluggish.
Of course it is just a web page, what else it could have been? To make the store pages more fancy Valve would need to add megabytes of javascripts, and that would make them to load even slower than now. And Steam Store is already bloated with tracking and analyzing scripts. I miss the Internet of the 1990s when everything was just simple .html files and images.

For the client, what do you think should be updated? I believe its design is good because of its simplicity. You have "Play" button and can visit forums, guides, etc for every game. Compare it with other clients. I hate how Battle.net client works. It shows me embedded video advert of Overwatch on Starcraft page and video advert of CoD: BO4 on Overwatch page. This is abhorrent.

There's a brand new Steam Play Beta version out with FAudio, also a Steam Play whitelist update

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is a very good game with fantastic art design.
Botanicula is worth playing too.

The spiritual successor to the fourth episode of DOOM? That episode is hard as hell. I hope Sigil won't have that sadistic difficulty.

Quoting: kuhpunktMaybe not difficult, but annoying. That's what is/was so great about Steam. It was comfortable.
It's either this, or Steam monopoly.
Quoting: kuhpunktYou think console owners would be happy if they had to log into 12 different accounts on their system?
Don't they already have to do that for Uplay, Origin, Fortnite, etc?

Quoting: stephenseiber420I must say I get competition is great but I hate having my games split between multiple apps library. got command and conquer, battle field 4, and sim city with EA. wow, diablo 3 and star craft 2 with battlenet, witcher 3 with gog and 300 games on steam.
Is it too difficult to click another icon to launch a game? Some strange people even buy game consoles - big expensive devices intended only for playing few games. They use accounts there too and even stick into those consoles weird round things for some DRM-related reason (my grandfather says they are called 'deesck' or something and were used on PCs somehow when he was a boy.)
Quoting: stephenseiber420WE need a program to link all these programs together to give one gaming library.
Lutris? "Games" in the application menu?
