You need to install DX9 (full installer). May be it can work with less, but installing d3dx9_36 alone didn't help.

Deb allows using xz, so tar.gz would be bigger in that case.

Quoting: oldrocker99And they make tar.gz as well as .deb files available. VERY nice!
Yeah, the tar.gz files shouldn't be bigger than the .deb files, should they?

A few relevant GOG wishlist items:
* Use Tux icon instead of Ubuntu logo to identify Linux games
* Use better compression in tarballs.

Great news!
Good to hear that they have some interest and think about opening Galaxy in the future (as well as acknowledge the feedback).
Indicating Wine in the system requirements is good, but I think they should make it more visible, using some icon or something.
And they use Ubuntu icon for Linux. This surely could be done in more generic fashion :)
By the way, GOG confirmed that they are waiting for performance bug fixes in the Witcher 2, that's why it's not there at launch.

OS X support was never announced by them. Cross platform can refer to their planned release for PlayStation4. So far they never said that they actually support OpenGL in their new RedEngine. So this is a good opportunity to clarify the situation. Feel free to ask your own questions in that thread.

They didn't say that it's coming either, therefore asking them to clarify this is a good idea (so please vote).

Quoting: STiATThey still didn't say it's not coming, they just didn't announce it. The image actually suggests it will come later.
I'd guess Witcher 3 on a "real" Steam Machine launch.

SteamOS Update 123 Pushed To Alchemist Beta

So it is using X.org. At least it's good they aren't trying to reinvent the wheel and make their own display server (like Ubuntu does). Hopefully they'll turn it into Wayland compositor when the drivers will make it possible.

I'm not sure, no do I think that it works with wayland [yet].

How can it be close to the release if performance outside is still very poor even on high end hardware? For a game that old, the engine is nowhere near the optimized condition.

That's exactly the point. All those are evil purposes.

It also makes the process of achieving a vendor lock-in easier.Quoting: BillNyeTheBlackGuyI just don't see the point. Not every program needs to be open.No program needs to be closed source.
