Quoting: Guestwhy can't you say if you enjoy our and use word website, and dont use word content?Content is just the stuff people produce. So when Liam says "if you've enjoyed our content" it just means the stuff Liam has produced aka articles and videos. Just because you have negative preconceptions about the meaning of the word "content" doesn't mean that it's a word we should avoid.
if you enjoy our website
sorry word content reminds me of all these youtubers who beg people for subscriptions promising new content, it's definitely not positive thing ;/

Quoting: kuhpunktNowhere did I say that Valve couldn't afford taking a smaller cut or anything - but there's got to be a line that's fair to all parties: Valve, the game developers and the customers. No one is independent of each other here.Alright, why is 10% below that line? You yourself called it a downward spiral implying that the line is being crossed. Also, I would like you to explain why you think these services would operate at a loss even if there is absolutely no way for them to maintain that kind of a margin. I mean, it might work in the short term to draw people in but then there would be backlash when the cuts go up, so to me that move would make little sense.
Quoting: kuhpunktAs I said: there's a line. Capitalism isn't the best thing in the world, because it will eventually hit you, too.
Quoteand this race to the bottom is just capitalism working for a change?

Quoting: Doc AngeloI didn't say anything about exclusivity. I personally don't care for it either nor do I intend to buy any games from Discord. I was addressing a very specific argument about cuts.Quoting: SamsaiI find it somewhat mind-boggling that distribution platforms taking smaller cuts is seen as some kind of an evil.
For me, it isn't the cut itself that's evil. As long as all sides have something to gain, it's fine. What's evil is that both Epic and Discord are going for (timed) exclusives.

I find it somewhat mind-boggling that distribution platforms taking smaller cuts is seen as some kind of an evil. I am quite willing to bet that these services will not be operating at a loss, at least not for long, and I have complete faith in these companies abusing and selling user data regardless of their profit margins.

Quoting: kuhpunktOr maybe people like Valve have been taking way more than they needed to and this race to the bottom is just capitalism working for a change?Quoting: Purple Library GuyQuoting: kuhpunktAnd the downward spiral continues.Uh, of who?
Of companies. They will try to beat each other with lower and lower cuts. At some point they will have to operate at a loss. I have no insider-information or anything like that, but 10% isn't much. At what point won't they make any kind of profit anymore? And then what? How will get earn their bucks? Selling user data? I mean in this case and the Epic Store Tencent is involved.

Truly sad that such a realistic and bug-free military simulation will not receive updates. But it's no matter, since the game runs perfectly anyways.
It does not, for example, suffer from performance degradation to the point of running at 15 FPS after you respawn a couple of times. Nor does it ever crash for totally abstract reasons, allowing us to write haikus in the crash reporter. The game also sparingly uses GPU memory resources in a way that it never even gets close to 8 GB of VRAM usage. The AI is also super fair, only occasionally managing to shoot you right in the face with an AK from 2000 meters away in the middle of a night in a combination of a sandstorm and a regular storm.
Oh, and the vehicle physics are also top notch.

Quoting: gojulDunno why they decided to port a game that already works w/ proton. They'd better go for shadow of mordor 2...Because some of us don't play games in Proton and would rather wait for actual Linux ports that actually help support the platform rather than developers that don't give a damn about your existence. :)

Quoting: GuestI enjoyed Stellaris 1.0 when it came out and thought it was a good game. I think the new versions are even better and have enjoyed them even more than 1.0. So I can't really see the issue when a game I liked became an even better game over time. I mean, they probably could have gone and released Stellaris 2 for you and then you could have had your clear separation of versions and paid for the game twice. But I don't see why a game can't improve over its lifetime and has to be feature frozen because some people won't bother learning how the new mechanics work.Quoting: SamsaiQuoting: GuestCan't have it all. Plus, I have yet to see a Stellaris version that was broken to the point of being unenjoyable, so playing a previous version is not exactly an impossible feat. I think you are just being difficult.Quoting: SamsaiQuoting: GuestThe problem with changing a game substantially with each patch is that people have to re-learn the game. I understand that people who are unemployed and kids who don't care about school exist, but for normal mortals investing so much into a game is not feasible. At the end of the day, it feels like WORK. And we already have a job...You can just select on older version from the Betas tab and play that if you want to avoid learning the new mechanics.
Of course, and forfeit recent bugfixes, QoL improvements, and other additions...
I am not being difficult, i am just expressing a different opinion. I am not the only one who can't be bothered re-learning a game that was a CONSIDERABLE TIME INVESTMENT to learn in the first place...
I am not the only one who thinks that gameplay should be done correctly the first time, not literally changing everything after release. Install 1.0 of Stellaris and tell me it has any resemblance to the 2.2 version, at all... So what happened, was it an early access game that was prone to change, sold as a full price product? Why should we accept this behavior?
It is not that i am being difficult, it is YOU who are not more critical of this situation.
