Quoting: GuestThe problem with changing a game substantially with each patch is that people have to re-learn the game. I understand that people who are unemployed and kids who don't care about school exist, but for normal mortals investing so much into a game is not feasible. At the end of the day, it feels like WORK. And we already have a job...
You can just select on older version from the Betas tab and play that if you want to avoid learning the new mechanics.

Of course, and forfeit recent bugfixes, QoL improvements, and other additions...
Can't have it all. Plus, I have yet to see a Stellaris version that was broken to the point of being unenjoyable, so playing a previous version is not exactly an impossible feat. I think you are just being difficult.

DELTARUNE, the successor to UNDERTALE, unofficially ported to Linux

Quoting: DolusYou'd think we'd have a decent OSS alternative to GameMaker by now.
Alternatives exist. Whether devs use them or not is a different question entirely.

DELTARUNE, the successor to UNDERTALE, unofficially ported to Linux

Quoting: EhvisWith the name being an anagram for Undertale one may assume it is closely related to it. Is it some sort of free coda to the game? The website isn't exactly filled with information.
It's basically the first chapter of the game for free. Some have called it a "demo" but considering it's 4 hours long and has a decent story I'd argue it's a entire free game. And yes, the website looks scary but that's how Toby Fox seems to have intended it.

The Long Dark is leaving GOG tomorrow although it will still get updates

Calling it a "funny joke" is quite ridiculous. The only way you could construe the tweet as "funny" is if you are amused by the people getting offended by it, which is not what a joke is. The tweet itself was just marketing shoved into a conversation where it did not belong. I can bet that if Liam started plastering marketing slogans all over the articles and comments even the "lel funny joeks" guys would start to get annoyed.

Nightdive are having issues with the Wine-bundled Linux build of System Shock 2
2 November 2018 at 10:49 am UTC

Quoting: KayKay91I wonder if they have a source code of the game. Perhaps Icculus would make a native Linux port of it .
For System Shock 2 the source code specifically doesn't exist and that's why the Wine port was made. And I think it's a case of _nobody_ having the SS2 source code, nobody apparently kept tabs on it.

The next big Steam sale dates have been leaked, as usual

QuotePerhaps one of these will be a good time to check out some cheap games from Windows-only developers for use in Steam Play?
Ultra yuck. Very ultra yuck.

Game developer revokes a user's Steam key after negative review
20 October 2018 at 4:53 pm UTC Likes: 4

Quoting: GuestYet you are portraying it as deliberate malicious intent when you have no proof of that whatsoever, apart from the posting of a guy who was obviously pissed off that his key had been revoked, and assumed it was due to his negative review.

edit: Moreover, this is not a Linux issue - other than the fact that the game has a Linux build, the poster hasnt even mentioned Linux.
Can you just admit you are wrong for once and politely get out? You are clearly just trying to instigate anger here, again, just to feed your sad sad desire to be on the receiving end of vitriol.

Sci-fi colony building sim RimWorld is out in full now and it's awesome

Quoting: fabertaweSame as edenist, this one sounds great.

I've lately been playing the sort of games I've shied away from and while it's great that it's expanded my horizons I've also got the problem where my limited game time will have to be spread even thinner! Maybe I should whizz through games faster instead of dawdling on each one and I might get a bit further into my backlog.
I'm not sure what to tell you. RimWorld is a game that can easily suck you in and not let go for a good while. So be prepared to use up your game time if you decide to have a crack at it. :P

Mojang to open source more of Minecraft with two libraries already on GitHub

A command parser and a game-specific data fixing algorithm? Yay... This is just about the most useless stuff they could have open sourced and will pretty much not benefit the modding community or anyone else.
