I'm starting to get really excited about the game, the visuals are great, not so sure about the players blood animation though.

Ok one question. Does buying the linux release also get us the windows release?

Edit: Also are there plans for multiplayer?
motorsep Feb 17, 2012
Yes. You choose the package for your preferred OS and either of them has binaries for Win/Linux.

Yes, there are plans for multiplayer :)

technically there is already multiplayer, it just hasn't been tested. darkplaces is a nice engine when it comes to having multiplayer support.

hefty download, but great speed :)

since I did not see any spot on where to send feedback, I guess here will do ?

- running on opensuse 11.4 with nvidia binairy blob
- movement is really smooth, if your aiming for the dungeon crawler where you carry around stuff and get better (often heavier) armor then it might be a bit to smooth, unless I am naked right now and as I get new stuff my movement will change.
- the movement speeds vs the melee speed don't match, and I ended up mostly doing fireballs
- like the charging of the magic spell, after figuring that out I sort of automaticly expected the same for melee, so get my sword ready to strike.
- would appreciate the picking up from chest a bit smoother, opening with E is fine, but you got to walk into the chest, would be nice to just walk against it
- the doors I opened, the one half opened the other half shows the animation/movement, in other words you can see the edge of the other half of the door move to towards the wall but the door itself stays in place, so got half a door open visually. (got it a screenshot), but can walk through the closed half.
- bombs are really cool, gone places no man has gone before :)
- the fireball options are cool, the guided one especially
- mouse scroll wheel to scroll through the diffrent fireballs/magic spells would be a nice extra

well that my 1st impression, I like it though !!! well worth alpha funding, so go for it those that have not yet !

Heh, it was suppose to be >500Mb ;)

32 or 64 bit ?

Not sure about this one. I really enjoy fluid movement a la Hexen, no matter how much gear you have.
Even Diablo wouldn't slow down your character. It's not a good thing imo.

Quoting: "Bumadar, post: 3403, member: 93"- the movement speeds vs the melee speed don't match, and I ended up mostly doing fireballs

Could you clarify this please?

Use E to pick up items. Just aim at them and press E. We will have crosshair changing its shape when aimed at the pickable item.

Sounds like a bug. Never happened before :/ Could you please post a screenshot or a link to one? Also could you please try reproducing it?

Thank you for the feed back!

Here's my feedback since you are following this forum

Running on Ubuntu 11.10 32bit

- The blood looks much better now heheh.

- Walking speed is fine by me, but melee attacks take too long (the delay between the time you click and the actual strike happens is large). Don't get be wrong, there is no lag for the mouseclick event, I'm talking about the sword swing movement.

- I also liked the bombs.

- The skeletons come at you waaaaay too slowly. I assume they will have a "charge" mode in later releases.

- Fireballs are either too strong or waste too little mana. Combined with the skeleton speed you can just clean them all out by charging and attacking.

- I assume this is already planned but I would like to see the enemies be affected by the strikes physically (especially by fireballs). I don't mean having them bruise or something, just bounce a little back or something.

- At this point there are too few enemies to kill. I was hoping for an option to change that (maybe I didn't see it?)

- Could we get some sort of door to lower levels which would just increase the density of enemies and throw you into a new dungeon? (is there one? I didn't find one)

I aggree that armor shouldn't weigh you down.

Can't wait for more weapons. Are you planning on ranged weapons as well?
