I am not really up to speed on Garrys Mod but I know it is very popular so I am sure for some people this will be fun news, Garry has stated he is up for the challenge of bringing it to Linux!

For those that like me didn't really know what it was wikipedia states this:
So basically there is no objective to it at all, it's just a sandbox building game with physics, available in single player and dedicated server multi-player that can use objects from any source game.

For those that like me didn't really know what it was wikipedia states this:
QuoteGarry's Mod (officially abbreviated as GMod) is a sandboxphysics game using the Source engine. Garry's Mod has been available on Valve's content delivery service, Steam, since November 29, 2006.[2] Despite being a standalone game,Garry's Mod requires the user to own at least one game on Steam based on the Source engine, such as Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Portal, or Team Fortress 2.[2] It is also commonly used for the creation and publishing of videos[4][5] onYouTube, mainly from Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2, Portal, Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. Garry's Mod was originally a modification for Valve'sHalf-Life 2, but was later made into a standalone Steam game that was officially released on November 29, 2006. Garry's Mod 10 (also known as Garry's Mod 11) is now technically obsolete, as there is now a Beta of Garry's Mod 13.
So basically there is no objective to it at all, it's just a sandbox building game with physics, available in single player and dedicated server multi-player that can use objects from any source game.

I knew he would take up that challange if it was presented! I have had great fun in that game and it will be great to see it come to linux.
Garry's mod is at it's hard a goal less sandbox game But is very very extensible. You can make game modes in which you can do almost anything. Much more then in any (source) game.

Trouble In Terrorist town is a nice example of a game mode. People use it for posting and setting up stills and machinima (though I imagine that Source Filmmaker has taken away some of that audience).
There are also community models supplied that mimic non-source games as well.
I haven't spent a lot of time in it, but Mim and I have had lots of fun when we've played around.

It's been around for a few days, but I only spotted it last night. Garry's been talking on Twitter about how many Linux sales there have been. Interestingly, the Steam store still says that it's Windows/Mac only.

Personally I won't cover the release, his still constant bitching about Linux and being a twat makes me not want to give him any more exposure, I won't stop anyone else though. I ranted on reddit about it here for anyone interested: http://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1fw4p8/garrys_mod_linux_sales/
Seems everyone agrees with me, he's an idiot. The store doesn't even state it has Linux support neither does his website, masses of people already own it from bundles and sales etc. Yet he still takes to twitter to basically "show off" low Linux sales to spread crap again.
I do not like him.
