"Got the Linux message load and clear via#HumbleBundle feedback. Evaluating cost/benefit as we speak."
Well, maybe that bundle wasn't such a terrible thing after all? If this is indeed happening, and they decide for it, then well, damn.

My thoughts is that this is nothing more than damage control.
I did say before the bundle opened up more money making possibilities for THQ and Humble by enabling them to do another bundle but with Linux and Mac ports.

Venn from LinuxGameCast also retweeted this. Now Phoronix reported on it as well. I guess everyone's jumping on the bandwagon...
Personally I think it's way too soon to get excited about this. However it is definitely something worth keeping an eye on.
I just hope the Internet doesn't overreact like it has a tendency to do - especially if nothing comes of it. :(

Honestly, if they weren't looking into stuff, it would have made much more sense for them to not say anything, to keep their head down and wait for people to forget about it. They've opened up a little bit of a can of worms here so far as expectation management goes.
It's hard to know what the outcomes will be, but unless they're immensely inept, I'd say they probably are looking into it.

Even if nothing comes of it, a big publisher considering Linux is a big thing.

A pretty meaningless statement. Looking at it can mean a whole bunch of things and can can have a lot of different outcomes. Looking at it for which games? Which timeframes? How seriously are the considering it? Have they talked to any potential porters? Are they thinking of native ports or something using Winelib or the like, maybe both on a case by case basis? Lots of potential issues here. It could just be a loose thought by a couple of guys.

sorry to say, but won't happen on their old games. THQ is in enough financial problems as it is, they won't port their back catalogue to linux at a cost and knowing that they would have to give the linux version for free to those who bought the bundle (if they don't then they in for a big storm). At most a future game will be made using unity 4 or another linux compatible engine.

This still does not forgive the HIB guys throwing off their principles for them. If they do port games in a way that I feel like supporting them, I will though.

I will just continue as I always do and not get my hopes up.

That may be the only reason for saying they're evaluating GNU/Linux ports.

This seems fairly interesting: [http://www.polygon.com/2012/12/16/3773718/thq-weighing-costs-and-benefits-of-linux-for-upcoming-releases](http://www.polygon.com/2012/12/16/3773718/thq-weighing-costs-and-benefits-of-linux-for-upcoming-releases)
A bit more from Rubin on this, so they might honestly be considering doing such things.

^ Okay, well that does seem more promising. Whilst I won't get my hopes up, it's great Rubin is actually taking notice and considering it. That's way more than a lot of others do when it comes to commercial stuff on Linux.
