Thanks to the developers for emailing this one in, sorry it took a while!

On asking the developer if it will be a Steam only release:
QuoteHi Liam,

thanks for responding!

Right now we're trying to get the game Greenlighted, and that would be our cue to put some more work in the game.

If the Greenlight campaign just drags on and doesn't pick up pace, we will probably make other plans. It would seem like a bit of a waste not to release the game somewhere, now that we've already put some new work into it in bringing it to our current framework. The Windows version is currently available only through the game website via Plimus, and as it is still selling ever so steadily, we would imagine a newer version with Linux and Mac support would sell a bit too, if it was made available with better distribution.

Greenlight would be golden though, as if we're not mistaked, that would allow us to secure Steam distribution to a full remake or a sequel as well. And that's what the Greenlight campaign for Crimsonland is all about.

It's a bit unfortunate Steam dominates all hardcore PC download sales so heavily it's really too big a risk for us to do hardcore stuff without access to Steam.

Cheers,

Jaakko

What the heck, is this a rip off of Violetland?

Or are they the same developers? If they are not the same developers, then this isn't very nice.
EDIT: My apologies, it seems that they are two different games. I thought Crimsonland was something new, apparently it's been around for a while. Again, I apologize for my mistake.

Yeah, it's actually the other way around, although more of an "inspired by Crimsonland" :)

Indeed, I made a very shameful mistake... Man, if I could go back in time and slap myself I most certainly would. That's what happens when I think with my emotions and assumptions.:|
