Penumbra Collection Now On Desura

By -
You can now get the Penumbra Collection direct from Desura for £7.99 which includes all 3 games together. This will no doubt please people who don't want to buy from Steam but still want their games in one place.

It is available on Steam (although Steam seems to be missing one game!) and from them directly as well though.

Penumbra Collection Trailer - Desura

I have played a bit of each of them and love them, if you like puzzles and a bit of a fright, then these are really for you.

About
Penumbra is a first person horror adventure focusing on story, immersion and puzzle solving. Violence and combat is hardly an option - the player has to use wits to guide Philip through his final test, and this makes the series unique in offering a truly dangerous and terrifying experience.

Penumbra is a true advancement to the adventure genre. The unique physics system allows for true environmental interaction: The player can open drawers, pull levers, pick up objects and manipulate those objects in 3D space - all using natural mouse movements, creating a highly interactive and immersive game world.

Penumbra will put players on edge like never before as they explore bizarre and mysterious environments, the unknown awaiting them behind every corner. The world is detailed both in terms of graphical fidelity and narrative character - The Penumbra Series is a horrific experience that will grip players from its opening thrills to it chilling denouement. Bought it almost as soon as I saw it on Desura, but I unfortunately have ran into some problems:

Hoping to get this resolved, but I have had no help from technical support as of yet. :(

EDIT: Looking at that Steam page, it looks like Requiem is included in the Gold edition of Black Plague. So they do have all the games there.

Indeed, the third penumbra is considered by steam as an extension. So the pack contains all three episodes.

I just picked up the collectors pack for $9.99 on steam. They all installed just fine. For a while there i wasn't able to buy them on steam. They must of fixed what ever was going on with that.

Could also be a Gallium3D driver issue in how they implemented some of the opengl calls the game uses ?

Thing is, I have a different version of the game that works fine. As I explained in the support thread.

It only seems to apply to the Desura version I got.

Well, I finally got a response from Frictional support; it turns out the problem was that my copy of the game shipped with bad shaders. After replacing them with new shaders they provided the game worked like a treat, although I am left wondering why it took almost a week and a half to get any response out of them. I know it is not their main focus anymore, but you think that after releasing a game on a new distribution platform you would take a bit more of an interest in it again.

At any rate, they did solve my problem, although I am left wondering if this was truly my problem or something that could affect more Desura users. I did download two versions, one from the  Desura client and independently through the Desura web store, both had issues, so there might be something more going on.
