Today I took a look at Insanity's Blade a game Kickstarted at the end of last year.

My thoughts
Insanity's Blade is a real retro-game in the sense that it feels like I'm playing on a Sega Megadrive. The controls do feel a little clunky only being able to do certain things at a time.

That can work for some games, but technology has moved on from those days and some games just don't get it quite right. However Insanity's Blade does get it right and creates a frustratingly authentic retro-gaming experience. I say frustrating as these games always frustrate me due to the clunky combat and jumping from platform to platform.

What did surprise me is how you get your knives out to hang onto the edges of cliffs and climb up using them, rather than having to time your jumps right and failing for 10 minutes, that's a nice improvement over traditional retro games.

The graphics, animations and sound-track are superb and really bring in that authentic experience. Honestly this would sit right at home on the old consoles, but it's up to you lot if it belongs in 2014.

Overall I enjoyed my time on it and think it's worth checking out.
