Triggerfish Drill Sergeant is the first game from Anglerteam Games which puts you in charge of getting a bunch of fish into the right formation, and it's weird. I've played a lot of puzzle games in my time and this one is near the top of the crop of weirdness, but it's quite original too.
Like most puzzle games it starts off extremely simple and quickly ramps up the difficulty to make you question your own sanity. On each map you are given your orders of where your fish need to end up, and it's you job to recruit new troops or blow the current fish out of the water with things like bomb fish. I liked it, but like a lot of puzzle games it does sadly get a bit repetitive after a while.
The game is built in Unity3D, so it should work as well as any other game on that engine, but luckily it gave me no mouse issues.
Features
- Challenging and deep puzzle mechanics.
- Triggerfish parade grounds under the sea offer different wrinkles.
- New types of recruits challenge your planning mastery.
- Organize your troops in comfort of relaxing tunes by Forgotten Dawn.
- Create and play custom user-created drills.
It's currently in beta and anyone can join in by going here. The developers tell me upon completion they aim to sell it directly and across a few web stores for $5, so it's a good price-point. They haven't given out a set date yet, so stay tuned.
