Infinity Runner is a great looking first person action game that involves a lot of running. We give it a try to see how it performs.
I am an absolute sucker for space sci-fi themed games, and just had to give this one a try to report back to you on.
Sadly though, the game itself really isn't all that interesting and if you have played simple Android games like Temple Run it's very much the same type of game. You are always running, and you don't control the running aspect at all.
The objective is to get the best time of course and collect little items as you go on while occasionally hitting A or D to move to the left or right of an object. You also occasionally slide or jump obstacles like lasers.
You also come across some fairly bland looking aliens that require a combo of right mouse clicking along with pressing a single key to deal with them, so that's not exactly fun either or remotely challenging, and only serves as a brief distraction from... more running in bland looking hallways! Those key press combinations seem to be the same each time too, so it's not even randomised to be a challenge and that's a shame. Not only that, but you get quite a lot of time to press that second key, so that again removes the challenge.
While it may be fun online trying to beat others' times as you go, the online doesn't seem to work as it complains about Steamworks not being initialised, but it's a brand new game and teething problems happen no matter what platform you are on.
Note: The developers sent word the day after this to note the online is fixed.
I always try to pick apart games to find something fun in them, but honestly I have yet to find anything fun in Infinity Runner. When you fail a level you then have to re-do the entire level (you do get ~3 lives) that sees you running the same hallways over and over until you get it right.
The game really is a case of having a trailer show all the good bits, as the rest of the game is very boring.

In Infinity Runner, the player controls the protagonist, the prisoner, from a first-person perspective as he is challenged to escape from the gargantuan spaceship. This is accomplished by use of techniques and movements inspired by the disciplines of parkour and mixed martial arts, the game-play conveys the players strain and physical contact with the environment whilst dealing with the constantly changing and expansive surroundings. As well as these evasive elements there’s also combat sections in the game where a dynamic targeting system is used which calls for fast reflex combinations. The game supports the latest virtual reality technology as well as having multi-player mode which enables up to 32 people to play head to head.

Bummer. Never played temple run but that sounds boring too.
