Arcen Games just love Linux now don't they! AI War Fleet Command is currently in beta for Linux on Steam, and it's quite playable. Arcen are one of my new favourite developers for not just supporting Linux with newer games, but actually porting their back catalogue. That's worth a few brownie points don't you think?
A highly rated space strategy game is something that I simply could not pass up, regular readers will know I am a sucker for space "stuff". I have already picked up a copy and will be giving it a proper play through later.
You need to opt into the open beta on Steam (properties -> beta tab, "beta" in the dropdown).
About
Humanity has already fought its war against the machines -- and lost. AI death squads stand watch over every planet and every wormhole, the few remaining human settlements are held captive in orbiting bubbles, and the AIs have turned their attention outward, away from the galaxy, to alien threats or opportunities unknown.
You can see a post from the developers about it here, but they don't actually mention you can play it on Linux right now, so I am glad I tried it to report back to you lovely readers.
Check out AI War Fleet Command on Steam now.
