Appointment With F.E.A.R. is a rather interesting looking mix of comic, adventure and visual novel all in one fancy looking package. A fully released game too, so none of that "early access" for this one.

It has only been out a few days and has racked up a number of good reviews. It's refreshing to see no bad reviews of a game!

Official About
As Titan City’s courageous and incorruptible champion of law and order, use your super powers to protect its innocent citizens from the danger and deviousness of a host of super-villains bent on taking over the world!

Travel back to the 1980s as a superpowered defender of justice in this all-new edition of Steve Jackson's Appointment With F.E.A.R.! This dynamic edition is stylized as an interactive graphic novel. Your choices guide you towards new villains, super dilemmas, and ultimately, the Titanium Cyborg himself!

Your mission is to discover the location of the top-secret F.E.A.R. meeting, capture the Titanium Cyborg and his cohorts and bring them to justice.

You can get it from the developers directly or on Steam. Oddly the developers Humble Widget still says pre-order, but I'm sure that will be sorted soon.

It certainly seems that visual novel styled games have really made a come back recently! What do you think to this one? The addition of combat and character customization seems pretty fun, and the actual visual style is really crisp too. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

It took me a Youtube video review of F.E.A.R to realize it is a text-based adventure (at first, I was angry the video showcased here showd no gameplay). :p

Yeah, I want to see some mouse clicking action before I make my purchase ;)

The trailer we linked is exactly what the game is like, so I'm not sure why you have to go watch another video since it does actually show all gameplay.

As for me, I was just clueless about that video showing actual gameplay (I saw no indication of it both in the video title as well as the GOL post). I though it was just showing the character creation screen. :p
