A trailer was released for the Kickstarter funded game earlier this month, and with an estimated release date of February it might be one of the first Unreal Engine 4 powered games to release on Linux. As the trailer below shows, the game is a side-scrolling platformer, but it uses the engine well in creating a vibrant and living game world.

The developer, Yanim Studio, originally ran an unsuccessful campaign on Kickstarter, where they reached less than $40K of their $50 goal. Fortunately for us perhaps, as the game was originally developed with Unreal Engine 3 and was not going to be available for Linux. In May, a month after the first campaign ended, they launched a new campaign on Kickstarter, and this time Linux was a target from the get-go. In the meantime they hade made the switch to Unreal Engine 4, as project lead Yannick Puig of Yanim Studio told Nintento Enthusiast in an interview at the time:

Yannick PuigWe have worked with Unreal Engine 3 and are changing to Unreal 4 for Red Goddess. There is not a specific version of Unreal 4 for Wii U at the moment and we will use a version of Unreal 3 for the port.

This time they successfully managed to reach and surpass their target with $40K raised of a $30K goal, ensuring the stretch goals for an additional boss and chapter were also met.

Red Goddess is an action platformer in which you control three playable characters. There's a focus on exploration, combat and puzzle solving, and you get a variety of skills to choose from. The story follows the troubled goddess Divine, as she goes on a journey through her own subconscious mind to unravel a haunting mystery of her past.

The game is set to release for Linux in February according to a tweet from the developer:

Red Goddess gameLinux we'll release on February with PC version (Linux-Mac-Windows) :))

As far as I can tell, there are no other UE4 games officially announced and slated for release for Linux before that. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.
