Minecraft: Story Mode is a brand new adventure being created around Minecraft, but sadly Linux has been left out in the cold it seems.

Minecraft: Story mode will be a narrative-driven video game created by Telltale Games. It will be about Minecraft. Telltale have made some pretty highly rated games, so for general gamers this will probably be exciting news.

The Mojang press release used the annoying "PC" term when talking about platforms:
QuoteThe first episode will be released some time in 2015, and will be available on Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android-based devices.

While I got tired of the "PC != Windows" argument some time ago; it's still silly to be used like this.

And the press release from Telltale was even worse:
Quotestand-alone product that will premiere in 2015 on consoles, computers and mobile devices.

"Computers", what does that mean then?

We have shot off emails, and multiple tweets in the hope of getting a solid answer, but considering it's Telltale who have no history of Linux support we culd be left high and dry on this one. We hope this isn't the case though

We will update you if anyone actually responds to us. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Quoting: VampeVampire
Quoting: JarnoIt's not comming to linux, telltalegames haven't done anything that support linux.
Also "The first episode will be released some time in 2015, and will be available on Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android-based devices." implies that there isn't any plans to support linux (PC and Mac separated).

Actually, PC and Mac is 2 difrent hardware while Windows and Linux is 2 difrent os, still most game makers i have seen are idiots and think pc=windows, in reality pc should mean that it should work on any OS that runs on a pc computer, but like i said most game makers (and computer software makers in general) fails to understand that.

No, Macs and PCs no longer have different hardware architectures. However it IS the historical reason why Macs haven't been called "PCs" and COULD give us hope that lists like this include Linux within the "PC" designation but don't include Mac OSX.

Surely making a Linux version of this game would not be that difficult since Minecraft is written in Java which means it runs inside a Java virtual machine. Java is supposed to be write once, run anywhere. Unless I'm missing something, I would be surprised if this game didn't end up on Linux.
