Update: The Linux icon is now on the store, so looks like a same-day release!

Well this was a surprised! Dying Light has hints that it may come to Linux thanks to information from the awesome SteamDB.

The visuals in the game are just fantastic, and we really don't have many games in this class on Linux.

The game isn't out yet, and going by Steam it will release for Windows at the end of the month, but it looks like Linux could be included in this release. If so, it will be a huge same-day release.

The rumour comes thanks to this entry:

Changed oslist – windows,linux

This could be an error, but since Dead Island which is also from Techland is also on Linux, it is certainly within the realm of possibility. As with all news taken from SteamDB take it with a bag of salt, as it could be an error.

About the game
Dying Light is an action survival game presented in first-person perspective. The game is set in a vast and dangerous open world. During the day, you roam an urban environment devastated by a mysterious epidemic, scavenging for supplies and crafting weapons to help you defeat the hordes of mindless, flesh-hungry enemies the plague has created. At night, the hunter becomes the prey as the infected grow in strength and aggression - but even more lethal are the nocturnal, inhuman predators that leave their hives to feed. You will need to make use of all your skills and any available means to survive till dawn.

We really hope it is true!

We will add more to the article if we manage to find out much more. We have shot off an email to our previous Techland contact. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Absolutely great!

I almost bought "ultimate edition" straight away, however when I looked at the sys-reqs, I saw that I probably need a better cpu (amd fx 4100) and most likely a better gpu (gtx650) as well, actually a new HD (10gb left after 40gb install) wouldn't hurt either.

Well...I *have* played some titles with computer-specs that were a bit lower than "minimum requirements" in the past, without having a bad experience at all. Although that wasn't in Linux and in this case it feels like a bit of an expensive gamble.

Lol, new gpu/HD were part of my plans for february anyway but I think I'll hold off on this title for a little longer

I was just updating the Steam client on my laptop before a trip and I closed the news window of the client completely by habit. And just as I was to shut down Steam, it just popped in my head - "Wait, was that a penguin head next to the Windows icon? No way!!!" :D

This is a big deal, I take it? First time I've heard of this game, but it's not like I'm very knowledgeable about the gaming industry.
