Techland has begun their patching of Dying Light for Linux & Windows in their effort to clean up the rather botched release, and we took a look.
I personally supplied rather a lot of feedback to them on my support ticket, and they have been pretty responsive with their feedback to me, and this was a good sign from the start.
They have added in V Sync which was missing from the Linux graphics options originally, so that's nice to see, as it's something I mentioned to them that was missing. Sadly, the Motion Blur option still doesn't work, so the game will still induce headaches on Linux, but they did note it's a known issue that's being worked on.
The game is sadly still unplayable, as the blur effect on motion is horrific, and the performance without our previous tweaks is still below 30FPS on my Nvidia 970. If they could fix the Motion Blur to be turned off instead of always on, with our performance fix it would at least be playable until their official OpenGL performance issues are sorted.
It's really great to see them fix a good few Linux issues though like the big yellow pointers when using survivor sense, and input freezing. I can confirm now holding tab to change weapon does actually work, and the mouse wheel works now too, so that's really nice to see. The mousewheel scrolling on the map is incredibly slow though, so that needs adjusting and I've reported it.
You still cannot secure a safe-zone on Linux, so I have reminded them of this, again.

Bring on the next patch, Techland. We will continue to barrage them with our issues until they fix them.

Well at least they're aware of the issues. I was thinking of waiting on getting it, but I might pick it up after they get the motion blur and performance problems patched up.

Hopefully they fix the Radeon card issue soon...
This runs pretty much the same for me, except one thing, when I first launch it I get a black screen with a thing horizontal loading bar on the bottom (I assume it is for the shaders). When I seen that bar I was getting so hopeful :'(

Let's hope they can fix the problems. At least they are working on it / acknowledging it.

As I understood, Linux and Windows versions has different videooptions. What options does Linux version have?

Also Windows has turning blur off and on.Yes, we have that too, but the option doesn't work. As noted.

Well while this game looks good, I am glad I waited before actually purchasing it! It surprises me that the game is this broken, another example of why gamers should never pre-order a game without knowing the state it is in on release. However, if Techland makes this game playable, I will buy it because I am interested by the idea.

I hope, they will repair it. And will add Nvidia Gameworks. Also Windows has turning blur off and on.Yes, we have that too, but the option doesn't work. As noted.

Are you sure that it is motion blur bothering you and not the horrible chromactic *blahblahblah* they have added that can't be turned off? It certainly bothers me.

Dang, I was hoping the safe house issue would get fixed. Oh well. I'll put off playing this any more until they get that sorted out as I'm at a point now where I need to do some night missions and having secured safe houses for night missions is a big deal.

As far as I'm concerned, the worst thing is the blur. That chromatic whateveritis doesn't cause nausea or headaches. Normally I'm fine with motion blur and low FOV but this game causes problems even for me.Also Windows has turning blur off and on.Yes, we have that too, but the option doesn't work. As noted.

Doesn't surprise me.
Let's be honest, it's an so-called AAA game which has been in development for a very long time and now it turns out that it's performing abysmal on all platforms: WHO thinks there was just a switch missing to turn on a massive FPS boost?
It's safe to assume this is a structural issue of the engine and improving the performance will most likely be a tremendously difficult work taking a long time. If they'll take that costly challenge at all.
IMHO there's nothing significantly to expect from a patch arriving only several days after release.

That chromatic whateveritis doesn't cause nausea or headaches.I can stand it, but I know people who develop headaches from chromatic aberration. i agree the motion blur is horrible too, though. Both effects need to be killed with fire.

Well, blur is not so horrible for me. But as I know, blur almost in every game need much more productivity.

They say that they are fixing issues on distros like Linux Mint?? my laptop with the intel chip runs the game in Linux Mint... Although after this patch, my AMD Phenom 2 x6 1100T still wont load this game.

What about that; does the game still set all processes to nice 19?
what distro are you on?
so far we have seen only ubuntu based distro reports about that issue
im on Arch and it doesnt happen for me(didnt happen before patch either).
