An indie tribute to J-RPG classics. Explore a universe blending fantasy with science-fiction, intense ATB battles and branching story. The Kickstarter has reached 21% of the goal already, and it's trending to hit waaaay over the goal if you trust Kicktraq.

The best bit about it is they offer a Linux demo download (it doesn't work for me), so it certainly seems like Linux will be a first-class citizen for them, and "Linux" is in the title and video thumbnail. I still won't suggest backing it due to failed promises from so many developers, but I certainly won't stop anyone!

The trailer certainly makes it look pretty, but it is a Unity game, so we can't expect it to have super performance on Linux. We certainly do need more great looking RPG games like this though, so I really do hope they make it, and I would be shocked if they didn't.

I spoke to the developer over email about their Linux demo not working, and they stated this:

QuoteHello,

Linux demo is actually functionnal but it seem there is some "mysterious tricks" that make it work, actually we don't have done enough test to stabilize the linux demo on every systems but it work on many of them (we tested it on linux debian x64 with x and nvidia drivers)

We'll try during the campain to do more fixes to the linux demo

Best Regards

They also asked for a debug log in a later email, which I have sent them. Hope it helps them fix it up.

It has already reached over a fifth of its goal with 34 days to go, and will be available on all three major operating systems (and has demos for each) as well as two consoles, while having pretty 3D graphics along with a far smaller goal than many indie studios do these days. I am quite baffled. Is it that much cheaper to make a game in France than elsewhere?

Thanks for the heads up on the demo. I'm going to give it a go next few days and will back it if it's good. It's nice to see Linux be in a Kikcstarter from the beginning and not a stretch goal.

The Demo worked fine for me as well. Linux Mint 17.1 64bit, AMD proprietary drivers.

The demo works for me. Has the good ol' mouse-stuck-when-fullscreen Unity bug as well ;)

So far seems quite nice and reminds me a lot of Xenoblade Chronicles.

Will think about backing this one.

So, I'm downloading the demo to give it a shot but I am amazed they think they can make this game on such a small budget.

Darn, I thought this was going to be the Monster Hunter clone I've been waiting for.

I'm thrilled to hear a JRPG like this come to Linux. Hope it reaches its goal!

While I was able to run Edge of Eternity it ran at a solid 5 FPS; for now I'll keep an eye on the game's progress.

I've played the demo for 2 hours (and was unable to finish[?] - how do you pass the barricade in the thieves camp to reach the mountain?) and I like what I've seen and read so far, so I backed it. I love the older Final Fantasy games (< 10) and I would really enjoy to play a good looking JRPG on Linux. Though I think (and hope) their current QA doesn't yet include spelling or grammar… and I hope the game's performance gets better with Unity 5. 12-18 fps on ultra seems a bit slow, even for a gf 750 ti (on arch x64) since it's accompanied by 16gb ddr4 and 12 * 3,4ghz.

Abysmal performance, like all Unity games I've tried on Linux.
Had to put graphics down on low to reach a solid 30+ FPS with the following specs:

CPU: i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz
GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 780
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL6
SSD: Intel 910 800 GB

Also, the camera could not be adjusted using the mouse, it just kept jerking back again, probably another Unity bug?
Made the game very hard to play at least.

I tried the Grandia style battle system and liked it very much.
The game could have potential, but the rough demo kinda put me off this one a bit.
