The day has arrived, not only do we have a new DLC for Dying Light, but the Linux performance patch I previewed for you has also been released! To quote a film I saw recently “what a lovely day!”.
The new DLC is “Dying Light: The Bozak Horde” which is something we also posted about recently, but now it’s actually here and has day-1 Linux support.
I’ve been pleased by Techland’s progress, and their communication is getting slightly better. Dying Light didn't have the best release, but unlike some developers they have actually kept pushing at it!
I did a review of Dying Light on Linux, and I still stand by it. The gameplay is great, but the ending was terrible.
Patch 1.0.6 changelog below, but weirdly it doesn't mention performance fixes for Linux. I tested it to double check and the Linux performance fixes are in there, and the AA setting has returned! I've poked my Techland contact to get the patch notes sorted properly, odd that we aren't even mentioned when it's a huge change for us.
Update: They added the Linux notes in after I emailed them.
The developer mentioned to me that AMD's Linux GPU drivers aren't great for Dying Light on Linux, but they will continue to look for optimizations they can do themselves.

For those willing to get some performance back and get rid of some of those pesky effects I would recommend to use the Dying Light ManagerBig thanks! I’ll try removing the chromatic crap ASAP. Does your "out.zip" change anything else than blur and chromatic?
Not sure if the chromatic aberration is really removed actually, you need to test it.
You'll find in the zip a screenshot of the settings I used.
BTW, I can make some specific settings if you want, and upload them.

Edit: worth noting that when I started the game the menu background was black, and then the game itself was black too (I could only see the HUD) until I fell from a bridge and then I could see the world.
I have seen this few times before using DLM, more exactly when I disabled Film Grain (or whatever is called).

Before the patch I was avg around 60fps (mostly because I had v-sync, with v-sync disabled I got higher.) After the patch I now get an avg of 5fps and the font is all messed up, so yeah I'm not happy and I'm just about done messing with Dying Light.

I think you need to do a file verify or reinstall.
It was a fresh install and the ldd was good; I try to do that with every test as you never know with Linux.

I've got it working now, if you haven't finished the game you can try this one:Not sure if the chromatic aberration is really removed actually, you need to test it.Ah, I see, thanks. Unfortunately chromatic crap is still here :-(.
You'll find in the zip a screenshots of the settings I used.
But I didn’t see blur while running, though.

I must say that the game (in my opinion) looks so much better without chromatic aberration.
Also, that green tint that the game had is removed, making it look a bit more natural.
I'm sure that is not what developers intended but hey, what were they thinking with that chromatic aberration anyway? Is just silly...
