The roadmap for Unity, the extremely popular game engine has been updated. Apparently a Linux editor for Unity is in-progress, but it may be a while before we see it.
Note that the item is in the "In-progress, timelines long or uncertain" category of features, meaning that they have started working on it but it's probably not going to be here next week. We've had Unity support as a target platform but so far the editor itself has only supported Windows and Mac OSX. Many people have voiced their opinions and asked for a native editor for Linux but until now we saw no intention of porting the editor. But now it looks like game developers might be able to create games on Linux using Unity instead of just publishing for Linux from other platforms.
You can find the roadmap here: http://unity3d.com/unity/roadmap
Unity has been praised as an easy-to-use game development tool and would be a nice addition to the growing set of game dev tools we already have on Linux. Are you interested in developing games with Unity on Linux? Share your thoughts in the comments!
This has been a long time coming, as the request for the Linux editor is very high on their voting system. This request has also been updated to state that it has been started.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Between Krita, Gimp, Blender, Maya, Unreal Engine 4 and Unity Linux is actually becoming a viable game development platform. Now if someone would write a bulk 3d viewer/converter like Deep Exploration, and a viewer that reloads textures on a model when the window gains focus we would be getting pretty close to having some really good tools.

Quoting: aLgodot has been around already for a while... buy yay!
Has Godot proven itself capable of running a modern game yet? I see a lot of talk and a wall of screenshots on their homepage, but all unlinked and no references anywhere. Also those screens on their homepage - who one just must assume is built on Godot - all looks very simple, like Flash based games. But it's hard to tell.
