Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to be 64bit, so if you're still stuck in the past it's seriously time to upgrade. Valve say this fixes numerous long standing random crashes.

It seems the new update has introduced a host of new problems, with people reporting reduced performance in general, framerate drops they didn't have before and more.

I tested a round myself earlier and the framerate does fluctuate rather a lot.

If you do have issues, be sure to report them on github. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

32->64(32*2)bit and its not doubling the performance?
Please tell them to use intrinsics! :P

The reason games aren't 64 bit is because it doesn't really provide any advantage whatsoever, maybe on Linux if they were using linux libraries it wouldn't require the 32-bit but that's not the case as they ship their own libraries to my understanding.

I mean the only advantage I can think of is address space being increased, but then if your games is using 8GB ram I would start the dafuq face imo.

There's many new registers, helping the Compiler to create (a bit) faster code.

Well, Phoronix have done several performance tests between 32 and 64bits software and games that disagree with you. And I have seen a lot of AAA games that are now 64bits only. Even indie games in Linux, like American Truck Simulator, have only 64bits executables.

One of the worst games I ever played.
15 maps with the same structure (2 points, 3 lines, 2 spwans), ~30 weapons with only 5-7 really usable, completely broken aiming system (doesn't metter you really aimed at head. The bullet will fly where it wants!!! You will see a lot of blood but 0 damage). Yeah!!! It's a SKILL to kill with such a broken bullets!!! Expensive textures for $100. "Operations" with absolutely boring missions with broken AI of bots who can see you through walls and the worst community ever. Screaming russian kids.

OMG! I hate this game I've spent ~900 hours playing it and that hours are just wasted

I'm not sure if you're being deliberately ironic or if you just lack self-awareness.

Sounds like someone needs to push away from the PC. :)

How could one run this game on a machine with 32bit processor?
Dea1993 26 May 2016
this is the worse update ever...
before i could play the game at 60 and more fps, no i've continuous drop to 20fps (and below), a lot of stuttering and freeze with audio loop.

i hope that they will fix soon the performance problem, is not possibble play in this way

This update for me is odd...

Starting and the options screen is choppy. Connecting to a game is equally choppy.
But one in-game it is a lot smoother. The overlay is equally smooth.
