That's right, we are mentioning Halloween again. Noct [Steam] is a freaky 2D top-down action and survival game that has been updated with new gameplay.

The game has essentially gone through a big revamp.

You are no longer killed instantly, you actually have health, making the game less frustrating and more rewarding to play. Even with the health system, it's still damn hard considering weapons and ammo are scarce.

It's absolutely freaky, the entire graphical style of it being based on looking through thermal imaging along with the great ambient sound does make it quite unsettling. You can switch to a satellite view to get a better idea of where you are, or switch between two different thermal viewers.

One bit of advice: Hold down E to loot, I thought it was broken as I was pressing and tapping and nothing was happening, but you need to face something and actually hold it down. Silly I know, but I somehow missed that.

I like that they finally put out an update, but I'm not entirely sold on where they are going with it. You now have limited time to scavenge supplies and build a Bunker before a doomsday event happens, if you're outside, you're dead. Once they actually get in some upgrades for Bunkers, it will probably feel a lot better.

I'm going to be honest, I absolutely jumped out of my skin when I was walking around a building I found and some kind of massive spider come waltzing in, coming at me like I'm some kind of fast food. That's the most I've jumped in a long time, and I feel much less manly for it (if that's even possible for a big wuss like me).

It at least has the freaky factor down nicely, they just need to keep refining the gameplay.

It's 75% off right now, for £1.74 you can't really argue you aren't getting your moneys worth. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

The last time I tried it, I found it quite straining on the eyes. Not as in bad graphics, but my eyes quickly got tired from trying to make out things. I would prefer a cleaner visual look. Also there were scenes where the whole screen would switch from almost all black to almost all white, which my eyes did not appreciate. It is a shame really, because I did like the atmosphere in general.

I was just about to go buy it, get to the steam store & I already have it, don't remember buying it or playing it at all. Time to install it & give it a go. :D

I got this a long time ago in a bundle, never tried it though (it looks boring). When it is done, I will!
