With the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided release happening tomorrow, Feral Interactive have released the system requirements. It will need a pretty decent rig.

It is a heavy game, I've seen plenty of reports about the Windows version requiring a beefy PC to play it reasonably well, so this isn't surprising.

Note: AMD GPUs aren't supported. The likely reason is that Mesa doesn't officially have high enough OpenGL support (the new release doesn't officially expose 4.4/4.5 yet), and it may have some performance issues to sort out.

Minimum
Intel Core i3-4130 or AMD FX8350 processor
8GB RAM
2GB Nvidia 680 graphics card (driver version 367.57).

Recommended
Intel Core i7-3770K
16GB RAM with a 6GB
Nvidia 1060 graphics card (driver version 367.57).

I will give you as much information as I can tomorrow at release on how it performs on Linux and what I think. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

That's pretty tough requirements. On Windows it runs on my poor old GTX 660, I guess this time it's... the end :'(

hmm.. seems I may have to finally cave and look into overclocking my 2500k :(

I wonder how those specs are defined. I mean, technically you can probably run games like this even a low-end laptops, but you'd have to set graphics to a minimum and tolerate choppy framerates. I ask because my PC failed to meet the minimum requirements for most 2016 Linux ports, but I still managed to have a wonderful time playing AAA games like Tomb Raider and Shadow of Mordor on 30-60 fps and, 1080 resolution and graphics usually set to mid-high.

Largely depends on what cards Feral have available to test on, they won't be able to test on all cards of course.

They will also probably have performance targets to hit, so they have to set the minimum to never go below that target.

Compared to the recommended spec I have a slightly faster CPU, but a little slower GPU. I wonder what will affect the performance more. Regardless, unless there are "reasons", the Feral store can expect a visit this weekend.

Barely meeting minimum requirements :/ Good that I have only started playing Shadow of Mordor, so I should have enough to play on my tiny Steam Machine for next two years or so :)

Don't worry, guys, if you're below the requirements. You can probably still run it on lower specs (assuming the difference is reasonable) if you minimise other overheads. I've been doing this for years. Developers usually test games on Ubuntu (or other uber-popular but heavy distributions) with full-blown desktop environments, compositors, lots of daemons that eat RAM, etc, and then overstate the requirements to cover the publisher's ass. If you encounter low frame rates try installing something with only a window manager on a separate partition (I'm using Manjaro-i3), load a kernel dedicated for your hardware and slim it down even further by turning off whatever you don't need. If it still doesn't help, try older/newer graphics drivers. All and all, you have a high chance of making it playable.

Hmm, time to get that GTX 1070/1080 then ...

So in practice can I read "minimum requirements" as "lowest-end PC we tested on that gave acceptable performance"?
Are they pairing an Intel Core i3-4130 with an AMD FX8350 processor??

Something like that, they will have a few lower cards, but it probably didn't hit an acceptable level for their performance targets. It will likely work, and some on lower cards may enjoy it, but it won't be optimal.

Maybe can relation with single core performance

^_^

Minimum Spec doesn't mean "the game runs". Minimum Specs is the minimum hardware that gives a solid enjoyable experience throughout on low settings, in many cases people can play on under spec hardware combinations but they might experience some hitching, run on super low resolution or have other issues that mean it's not of the standard that we officially support it.

Dang, I wasn't expecting an official answer (Feral still surprises me). So I guess I'll get the game anyway, it's not my job to make it run well (it's my computer's, but it's a brave veteran soldier). I'm a mean boss.

So, maybe Feral could explain a bit on AMD? I mean, I was kind of planning to get the game and season pass, is it worth a try on mesa-git? Does it have visual glitches? Does it run in 2spf? I mean we all know that your games do not support AMD GPUs, but how bold is the "not supported" this time?
Kohrias 2 Nov 2016
I understand that AMD gpus are unsupported. But did Feral give any indication whether AMD gpus should work with a recent enough driver version (like it was with Mad Max)?

I have a Radeon RX-480 and would really like to pick it up.
PublicNuisance 2 Nov 2016
Yet another reason to kick myself over getting that RX 480 over a GTX 1060 back in September. My GTX 680 is now the minimum haha. Oh well, I'll still be interested in the game.
baccilus 2 Nov 2016
I have i5 [email protected] + 24GB RAM and GTX 1060 6GB. I think I am set but I have also recently got Mad Max and am really confused on which should I start first. I took nearly 3 months to complete Tomb Raider, since I don't game on daily basis.

It depends on whether you're looking for a stealth game or a shooter games (Deus Ex) or a melee combat and car game like Mad Max. Also you can beat Deus Ex in less time than Mad Max since it isn't open world so depends on what you're in the mood for.

Definitely getting this one. Should be fun!
