Linux gamers can now easily play the classic fighting game 'Pray for Death' [GOG Link], as GOG have packaged it up with DOSBox.

Originally released in 1996, GOG only acquired it for their store this week. It's pleasing to see it get a day-1 Linux download!

GOG sent over a copy for me to check out and it works perfectly on Antergos thanks to DOSBox. I really do think it's fantastic to get old games easily packaged for us like this. Keeping classic games alive is important I think and even better to play it on a platform it was never designed for. You can of course take the files out and run it in your own install of DOSBox, but this makes it easy for people who just want to download and play.

Official Features
  • Three local multiplayer modes to choose from. Tournament, Double Death, and Final League will give an opportunity to challenge your friends!
  • Choose between 10 different characters including mighty Cthulhu himself
  • Master each warrior's special moves and combos

Warning: The control scheme is really quite terrible.

Did you ever play this when you were younger? If you plan on picking up a copy, let us know in the comments! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Shit I remember this game. Instant nostalgia. Can't remember how good it was now though.

Saw a video on YT and it looks a bit like One Must Fall 2097 (I still play through that once a year) so maybe I have to check it out.

The inclusion of Cthulhu as a playable character is absolutely hilarious.

I played this back in the day! Should I be admitting that? :D

I'm picking this one up. Never heard of it but it looks like it's right up my alley. Can't wait to put it on the HTPC big screen and hear my kids make fun of it while I do my best to master each character!

Ended up getting it and played with some of my friends this weekend. Laughing the entire go at it. I did however had to get a work around for the bad control scheme to get them to be a little more solid. I used Antimicro and left the game on KB control scheme and used Antimicro to use gamepads. It ran so much better this way. Now to make a script for my HTPC for this setup.

It was a fun day. I need more games like this in my library hopefully GOG finds some other obscure fighters.

One of my dude picked up his own copy so I did my duty!
