I was initially excited, since I got their usual PR email announcing the trailer and release date earlier today, but Linux was specifically missing from the press email. After looking it up, they wrote more on Kickstarter about why. They said this about the Linux release:
QuoteUnfortunately, we won’t be having a Linux version ready for full release. Although we expected to run into problems, we thought that Unreal Engine would make our life a whole lot easier and time spent on the port would be closer to the time spent on the Mac version. We ran into some serious graphics issues on Linux, the biggest one being related to NVIDIA graphic cards. The problem was confirmed on their end and we are waiting for a new driver update that fixes the issue. In the meantime we are working on the other remaining issues and should the driver update not hit soon we will be able to use a workaround with reduced graphics that was thankfully provided by one of the dedicated Linux users on the Steam forums. So please stay tuned!

It's good to see them keep such open communication about the Linux version, but I'm still sad they've encountered such major issues. We've covered it a few times now, so this isn't exactly unexpected. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

at least they seem to be adamant about working out the issues and we will most likely see support soon enough. that's good to see. more nvidia driver fixes will be nice to see. I really like the concept of this game. looking forward to the Linux release.

Their dedication to the Linux port and solving problems with it makes me want to support them. Sounds like they are doing a great job!

Liam , can you ask them about ; did they test it with open source AMD drivers?

That is a problem ; right now most powerful cards are on Nvidia side and Nouveau open source drivers are bad so they're using proprietary Nvidia drivers. So this ports are just being blob driver certified ones and running some silly and simple problems on Mesa.

I'm glad they are still working on it.

They could have said "linux too hard; give up" like so many others.

The problem seems to exist quite some time now. Rather disappointing NVidia didn't tackle that than them not releasing. I understand they do want to release on Linux in full glory too instead of reducing graphics quality because NVidia didn't care.

Is it really a driver bug? Or is it an Unreal Engine bug?

I wonder if this is the same / similar bug to what causes Ark to freak out when there are too many shiny things, making more shiny things.

This game looks impressive... BUT, it also says it supports VR, yet says best played with keyboard/mouse. Nothing in VR is best played with keyboard/mouse, fumbling around with a headset on your head until you can touch the nobs that are hopefully on your index fingers for the keys... then reaching over to the mouse, then back...

Hopefully they implement Flight sticks, and walking around the cockpit for VR, and most importantly get Vulkan in there so we can get Linux VR support!

I've messaged them a few times. They said wait for the new NVidia driver. Which is out of course :(

Hmmm, are they another developer that ONLY tests against NVIDIA's 'standards' under Linux OpenGL? I hope they test and compare with the latest MESA options for AMD users. I mean if they get it out the door working on AMD hardware fine then chances are the NV side of things will just fall into place once they patch the driver!

WHY? Because AMD stuff actually has conformity to standards, meaning other hardware vendors can benefit from games being tested under it.... ;)

Yep , as i said "i told you , no Linux version " , and no Nvidia won't fix bug , they not fix for whole year... All developers have a problems on Linux , but they just bypass them.
Cossacks 3 had a huge problems , but no one complained for problems with drives or engine , just work and bypass.
