Nuclear Throne has a huge update with tons of improvements, Linux version currently broken (updated)
Update: The Linux version now actually downloads something, but you might need to run a command to get it working. See here.
Nuclear Throne [Steam], the fast-paced post-apocalyptic roguelike-like (that's how they describe it!) top-down shooter had a big update today.
While this update is not big on features, it is big on the polish. There's a massive list of bugs that have been fixed which will result in a much better game overall.
On top of squashing bugs, they've also implemented plenty of quality of life changes too. Things like area/weapon/mutation seeding is now far more consistent, native cursor support to get rid of mouse lag, localization support and lots of balancing changes too.
For this update, Vlambeer (the developer) actually hired a modder going by the name "YellowAfterlife", who created the Nuclear Throne Together mod to help make it. Pretty awesome to see modders get recognised like that!
Here's the problem though, the Linux download is now completely broken. The download is just empty! It's been reported, so hopefully they will fix it soon. I will update this post when they do manage to sort that mess out.
See the full changelog here, its quite a doozy.
The linux version is now updated https://steamdb.info/depot/242683/Yep, you likely still need to make adjustments to actually get it running though: http://steamcommunity.com/app/242680/discussions/1/1479857071269614843/#c1479857071269948944
It seems the Linux version got pulled from GOG, could swear it wasn't always Win+Mac there. If they reintroduce an up to date Linux version I might finally buy it.
AFAIK, there's never been a Linux version of Nuclear Throne on GOG.
Not that it matters, mind you. Vlambeer have made a habit of dumping their games on GOG and not bothering to update them ever again, for Linux, Mac, or Windows (even if their initial release includes a game-breaking bug that prevents the game from being beaten, like Luftrausers does).
