What are you playing this weekend?

By -

It's the start of another weekend, time to grab a coffee and relax with a good game, so what are you going to play?

There's been a lot of really great releases for Linux lately, it's getting incredibly hard to choose what to play.

I am most likely going to be diving into some more "All Walls Must Fall", it seems like such a unique strategy game! I'm a huge geek when it comes to anything involving time travel, so it's speaking to my inner nerd.

There's also the Don't Starve Together event, which was actually quite fun. I've always loved the art style in Don't Starve and this event system is a rather nice idea. It is quite gruelling though, but that's likely down to the teams I keep getting, where everyone seems to go off doing their own thing.

I've also been looking into treating myself to a racing wheel this holiday season, likely the Logitech Driving Force GT, which Feral seem to support pretty well and eBay has some good prices for it. I love racing games, but I can only imagine how much more fun something like F1 2017 on Linux would be with a wheel.

Finally, on a personal note: I am moving house Monday/Tuesday next week and won't have internet installed until Wednesday so please forgive me for no posts during that time. I've lined up our talented wordsmith BTRE with a few posts to keep us ticking over.

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. I've only ever played the beginning because my old Xbox never liked to read discs. It seems a little buggy right now, but nothing too game breaking yet.

Well, I just finished playing through Wanton Destruction again. This time with actual boss encounters!

I am also considering giving Max Payne 2 another whirl through WINE just so I can try to unlock the happier ending. At least it is a fairly short campaign.

Playing FlatOut 2 with my kids. Hooked up some nice race wheels we picked up for a thrift store for $5 each and they both work pretty sweetly.

I am also playing some Mugen games to brush up on my combos - 'The Black Heart' and 'Marvel vs DC - Champions of Destiny' - I have friends coming over tomorrow to help me repaint my garage and I have these games setup on the HTPC in my basement for some 1 on 1 play.

I am also checking out 'Two Worlds Epic Edition' - not really into RPGs of this nature but I picked it up during the recent sale to give it a spin. Seems OK but the walking around has already started to get on my nerves but I am trying to have some patients.

Playing Xonotic on Sunday @ the Makers Faire LAN.

I just picked this up. Great nostalgia - I played the whole thing back on the xbox. However, you are right about buggy. It has just crashed to desktop twice in the same spot (first gate eye), losing all my progress.

It looks pretty good for an old xbox game, but I might wait for the first patch before playing again.

Edit: 20 hours later, they pushed out an update so I tried again. Crashed in same spot. Will check the steam forums...

Quoting: axredneckGZDoom + Doom 2 + community maps + my mods

Same. Currently I'm playing through the horror-themed wad, "The City of The Damned - Apocalypse."

GZDoom has a great native Linux version for anyone wondering... And there are a huge amount of great wads out there to be played.
