Feral Interactive are up to their usual funny business with a brand new Linux port teaser up on their radar.
This is now the second unannounced Linux game they're teasing (here's the other), so I can't wait to see what they have cooked up for us. The last teaser was put up a good few months ago now, so hopefully at least one of them will release soon. They're both in the outermost part of the radar, so they could still be a while away. We don't really know what "Quite Soon" actually means, it could end up being tomorrow, a week or more.
Anyway…here's the latest teaser from their port radar:
"It's just a shot away"
Begin the guessing games! What do you think this be? Exciting! I'm sure these won't be the only titles this year too, let's see if they can truly surprise us.
Keep us guessing, Feral!
:)
Quoting: BeamboomBah these guessing games are FUN, chepati and Mohandevir! It doesn't spoil anything. It doesn't affect any release dates. It's just for good measure.

Personnally, I don't really care but I understand Chepati's point of view. It's true that many purchases could get postponed for the official Linux release if us, dualbooting gamers, knew earlier that the game was coming.

Quoting: wvstolzingUp to the user to decide. After all, having the choice is good.Quoting: sbolokanovBad performance isn't Linux issue. Windows game have bad performance too.
That's not what I'm talking about; I'm talking about performance *disparity*, and for *some* titles, it *does* exist.
As to whether this is a serious problem or not: To people who are *already* committed Linux users, it may not be a big deal; but we can't deny that it could be a serious deterrent for people whose #1 concern in building a desktop pc is gaming.
As of now we don't have the choice. Why? Maybe it's because they believe there will be no return (game already bought by most people - on Windows), so why limit yourselfs if that can help?
And no, I'm not saying that all games should have separate versions.
„but we can't deny that it could be a serious deterrent for people whose #1 concern in building a desktop pc is gaming.“
No we cannot. But I don't think that thouse who care that much for gaming will want to go Linux in the first place.

I guess the opposite would be valid as well, lots of people would then buy the Windows version before Linux release date as soon as it is somehow on sale..

Maybe too... But at least there is GamingOnLinux to warn them not to do that. :)

I hope so, though sometimes people tend to forget their principles when it seems to concern their own wallets :)
Quoting: Guestits just a shot away,is that from a song? because if that is the case.the only game that i know of that used that was black ops.holy crap if that is the case you can almost guarantee that is gonna be a huge title coming over here.
Yes it is from a song and the line is war baby its just a shot away, war never changes would be fallout/ though more likely total war warhammer 2 would love it to spacemarine though
Quoting: GuestOh, can't wait! Would be so cool if that would be some of Bethesda games. DOOM (2016) or Quake Champions :) But I think that will not happen, since Bethesda policy is not so friendly to non Windows gamers... ID Software was such a cool company before they got acquired...Yeah although if you look at John Carmack's opinion on Linux gaming it's not what I would like it too be but it doesn't really matter since they got bought out and he left.
Quoting: chepatiI wish Feral would stop these teases and instead would plainly announce what games they've acquired the rights to port. The sooner, the better. In fact, if possible *before* the windows release date. This will make sure that linux gamers who want to play a particular game can hold off on the purchase until the game is released on linux. I have 4-5 games that I had no inkling would ever get a linux port and bought them on windows. Had I known, I would have waited and given Feral my money.
Feral, if you're reading this, please reconsider your PR strategy.
We announce titles as early as feasibly possible. Until it's time to announce them, we can have Feral Radar clues or we can have good old-fashioned tumbleweeds.
