Aquiris Game Studio, developer of FPS Ballistic Overkill has announced their retro-inspired racing game Horizon Chase Turbo [Official Site].

It's actually a revamp of an older title of their's named Horizon Chase World Tour, only this time it's not locked to mobile platforms and it will be getting a Linux version too! Honestly, it looks like a really fantastic attempt to bring out a classic-style racing game for a new generation of players.

Quoting: GuestOMG, it even has a soundtrack by Barry Leitch ! Amiga hero !
That's a good sign. :)

As I've said before, realistic racing games are probably the genre I like the most, but I have to say OutRun Online Arcade is one of my favourite XBox 360 titles (and let's be honest: it has a lot). If this does non-specific-'90s-2.5D-racing-games as well as that updated OutRun - and it certainly looks right - it'll be an absolute winner.

I play this game on Nintendo 3DS and is a great game. Many tracks, good music, etc.

For me it reminds me Top Gear, even when the car crashes against the rock, it seems crash animation on Top Gear 2.

I want to be hyped but have been disappointed in the past with someone successfully executing a Crusin the World mechanic style game.

If they pull it off I'll be super down to play 4 - 16 player. local, online, whatever.

I just want to keep my excitement-o-meter in check since so many who try to do this formula just fail spectacularly.

Though, so far from the video it looks to have promise.
