The latest Rocket League [Steam] update is out, adding in a new tournaments feature so everyone can run their own.

You can now make and join user-created tournaments, each of them being able to customize the amount of people, the amount of games you have to play, the arenas you can play on, what platforms (cross-platform with consoles or not), rank requirements and so on.

In addition, there's also a new chat bans feature, so players who are a nuisance will be unable to talk. If you report someone and they get any kind of ban, you will also now be notified.

Also, we're running our first official GamingOnLinux tournament. This will be 1v1 with cross-platform turned off, in the hopes that it will be mainly Linux gamers playing together. It's going to be a one match affair for the main games, with a best of three for the final match to find the winner.

It will start Friday, April 6th at 8PM BST/7PM UTC, hopefully I have the time right as it doesn't note the timezone so I believe it goes by my local time when creating it.

How do I join? All you need to do is make sure you search for "GamingOnLinux" in the tournaments menu and subscribe to it, then when it's about to begin it should let you join in (so be online!) with a maximum of 64 players. As this is our first one, it might be a little odd until we understand the system properly—so bear with us! We shall of course run plenty more.

See the full update notes here, there's plenty more to this release like connection quality indicators, new country flags have been added, item stacking to reduce clutter in your inventory and more.

I can't make this one, but I look forward to beating all of you that can't win.

Dang, I'm kinda envious of you Rocket Leaguers now. I wish we had leagues/groups for other games as well (to play tournaments, campaigns or whatever). F1 2017 comes to mind.

There's no reason these tournaments have to be started or overseen by the GOL staff. Just head on to the Tournaments section of the forums and feel free to arrange your own. And I think there's a "players wanted" channel on the GOL discord if you're looking for less formal gaming company.

Quoting: tuubiI look forward to being the first one to lose 10-0.
Didn't manage to lose 10-0. But I guess 10-2 isn't far off. :P
