Oxygen Not Included, the rather excellent colony building sim from Klei Entertainment was just updated with the Expressive Upgrade.
As their fancy update logo might suggest, this fresh update makes your little Duplicants a lot more social. They can now react to a lot of things that will happen to them, like getting wet or mourning all the other Duplicants I accidentally killed. They will also have conversations with each other, greet their friends and more.
You can now schedule blocks of time for your Duplicants to stick to, like giving them time for working, eating, sleeping and so on. Now what they do isn't so random, which is quite nice.
There's a new morale system, which merges in the older job expectations system. So this now covers everything, such as food, lodgings, activities and so on. To go along with this, you can now build a Water Cooler, Arcade Cabinet, Jukebot, and Espresso Machine—even Duplicants on a far away asteroid love their coffee.
There's also new database items to unlock and read, the inspect option now appears on more points of interest, sound effects for buildings that didn't have any, completed animations for more critter interactions and Duplicants have now gained the ability to blink and walk at the same time.
Essentially, it sounds a lot more like The Sims in space. An absolutely ton more I have covered here, but that's some of the major stuff. Full update notes here. As usual, Klei are really doing some amazing work and continue to be one of my all time favourite developers.
You can find it on Steam.
Quoting: MintedGamerIs there any release date in sight for this game? I'd like to buy it but don't buy any Early Access games. Not that I'm currently aware of. It's perfectly playable even now, Klei have good Linux support.
