There's rumours circling around about XCOM 2 getting a new expansion and it seems whatever it turns out to be that Linux support should be there.
Many months ago, some keen-eyed XCOM fans on Reddit noticed that XCOM 2 had a new "Depot" show up on SteamDB named "XCom2 - TLE". Obviously this caused rumours to start flying around about what it could be and six months later we still don't know a thing.
I've held off on writing about this until we saw anything Linux related and yesterday this popped up on SteamDB:
424941/name: Mac - XCom2 - TLE (424938)
424942/name: Linux - XCom2 - TLE (424938)
424943/name: Mac - XCom2 - TLE Content (424938)
424944/name: Linux - XCom2 - TLE Content (424938)
This at least shows that Feral Interactive are involved and getting it setup ready for releasing for us too. This could even be what Feral Interactive's recent teaser was about. Giving the timing of their teaser and this now showing up, that would align quite well.
The last expansion, XCOM 2: War of the Chosen, was released over a year ago on August 29th and then only two days later it gained Linux support. Seems like it would be pretty good timing for another expansion, so everyone who has since moved on can blow the dust off again for one more turn.
Considering the ending of War of the Chosen, a remake of Terror from the Deep would certainly make a lot of sense.
Is it going to be a big expansion? What are your thoughts? Also, if you don't own it yet the XCOM 2 Collection is 50% off on the Humble Store.
I hope they don't and that new teaser is about a brand new game.
I love XCOM2 but I'm still waiting for a good deal to get War of the Chosen... So I guess that whatever this new expansion is, I'll wait a while before buying it too. :-/33% off on Humble Store, don't know if that's enough for you though. Extra 10% off if you're subbed to the monthly too.
