Stellaris, the space grand strategy game from Paradox has officially launched on GOG today so more of you can enjoy it.
Of course, all the DLC is also available on GOG so you're not being left out. On top of that, the multiplayer is expanding with a beta now available to support online multiplayer regardless of where you purchased it from which is exactly how it should be done. Great stuff from Paradox for doing that.
Direct Link
Features:
- Deep and Varied Exploration.
- Enormous procedural galaxies, containing thousands of planets.
- Explore Anomalies with your heroic Scientist leaders.
- Infinitely varied races through customization and procedural generation.
- Advanced Diplomacy system worthy of a Grand Strategy Game.
- Ship Designer based on a vast array of technologies.
- Stunning space visuals.
I'm a massive fan of Stellaris, if that wasn't clear from the many previous articles on it. With the recent updates it has become a much bigger and more interesting game overall. I think they've done a fantastic job at supporting it, not just with DLC content but free updates as well constantly.
Find Stellaris and all the DLC on GOG now if you were waiting for it don't miss out as it's currently 60% off! Also available on Humble Store and Steam still.
Does anyone know if the game gets added to the Paradox Launcher if you buy on GOG? I love the idea of a drm-free version but, with all the updates, I don't fancy struggling with GOG's archaic patching system.
IF the Paradox Launcher works now on Linux why don't you buy the game from Paradox itself? Don't think that the Launcher has any form of drm. Personally I'm mostly done with GOG's poor second rate service for Linux users.

Steam version is DRM free already.
Steam version is DRM free already.
If I launch the Steam version of CKII without launching Steam, I don't get access to my DLCs. That isn't drm-free by my measure. Is this game different?
(Edit: I suppose I might just be missing a flag or something to point to my dlcs. Does anyone know if that's the case?)

I can start Stellaris without Steam and get the start menu, where I can de-/select my already installed mods/dlcs. You cannot install/download the dlc/mods from this menu through.

Thanks. Good to know!
This means they're giving up on it. GOG is there Paradox grand strategies go to die. Why do you think CKII and EUIV are not there?Rubbish, they're in the middle of a big patch.
But keeping games up to date on GOG is such a nightmare on Linux thanks to GOG neglecting so much (I lost hope on Galaxy for Linux). And Paradox launcher claims to be able to select the version of the games, which is very appealing.

I don't think so.
1- They are launching the console edition of Stellaris
2 - They are preparing for a massive update, 2.2 Le Guin
Concerning CKII and EUIV they were both on other stores before (I bought at least one of them on GamersGate)
Then Paradox decided to go "Stean only" for the multiplayer as far as I remember.
So, it's normal that no Paradox game was on GOG till now.
Plus, I don't see why putting it on another store would mean giving up on it.
EDIT: I just saw Liam's answer, should have gone to page 2 of the comments...

With me new to Paradox titles - are there any "must have" DLCs I should buy while it's cheapish on gog? Or is the naked Stellaris fine for getting an impression?Naked is a great first impression. :D You don't need any DLC to have a great game. That said, my favorite DLC is Synthetic Dawn because I really like the droid race, and I also like Utopia for the mega structures. I'll reiterate that the DLC is not required until you are ready for some changes.
Naked is a great first impression. :DBetter safe than sorry - the naked truth *can* be ugly. And thanks, while I like the sound of 'mega structures' I'll try it pure for the moment.

It was CK2, it was their last game with a gamersgate version, was supported until India DLC release if I remember right, after that they switching to Steam only.
Any ideas why?
