Just before the weekend appears, we have the brand new Proton 3.16-8 beta available for Valve's Steam Play. This release includes some mighty fine fixes and updates.

The major upgrade this time around, is bumping DXVK to the 1.0 release. DXVK 1.0 had quite a lot of improvements all around, check the changelog for that here if you're interested. The gist of it is that you should see even more games become compatible and there's some performance improvements too.

There's also a very handy fix for Unity games, where a lot of them had the mouse pull down towards the bottom-right of the screen which should hopefully no longer happen.

For those playing online games, a networking fix also made it into this release with Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet specifically mentioned but others should see improvements too.

Steamwork API support was also improved for both old and new games, with Battlerite mentioned directly.

Finally, they noted "fixes" (they weren't specific) for DX9 games on certain hardware which includes titles like Final Fantasy XI.

As always, find the full changelog here.

Quoting: legluondunetSteam team made big progress for Far Cry 3, the game is now considered as "Silver". It's not perfect yet, you have to disable Uplay overlay and the game did not exit cleanly, you have to kill manually Uplay and some other process. But with Proton 3.16-8 the game is playable in Directx11 mode.

Like others, you need to use a crack to avoid Uplay.
I had to install a crack to play the game due to uplay not working.
Works fine with a crack (Withnot Uplay)
I used a crack to remove Uplay. Without Uplay it works perfectly.
Runs out of the box if you install the Crack.

i wonder if this works with all ubisoft games. its clearly not allowed, but does steam/ubisoft sees it and maybe ban your account?

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoNow I need a brand new Nvidia driver..
Why the PPA team takes so long?

This PPA? https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

It has 418, but you have to running 18.04, 18.10, or the 19.04 beta. I'm on 16.04, so I only get 415 drivers - but pretty much a great experience so far. I didn't see anything in 418 that was particularly game changing to be honest.

I like the update. Project CARS - Pagani Edition now works :D Finally a decent version of the Nordschleife on Linux.
Now they just need to get Assetto Corsa also working... and Elite Dangerous, with VR...

What's the easiest way to check the version of the bundled DXVK?

Just put on the launch options of a dx11 game: DXVK_HUD=version %command%

You should see the version on the top left corner.

Does this fix the Windows Media Foundation errors with Resident Evil 2 and 7? It was requiring some manual config to get those running and it would be nice to have it auto.

Also, fixing games with Easy Anti Cheat (EAC) would be a nice benefit too.

Sadly no jump to Wine 4 ... but still not bad!
