For those of you who want to check it out, Citra for emulating the Nintendo 3DS sounds like it's really progressing nicely.

It's been a while since they posted an official status update, with the last way back at the start of December. This update which can be found here, goes over what they've been up to and how they've progressed against a poll they did on their Patreon for what their supporters wanted working.

Not all of it is new, since a lot of this work was started last year. However, it goes to show just how much work has gone into Citra and it serves as a good round-up. The amount of progress they've made is quite astonishing, I'm always amazed by what emulator developers can do.

Over the last year they've made improvements to multiplayer, added in controller hotplugging, full cheat code support with a UI to go along with it, partial Amiibo support, microphone support, encrypted ROM support, touch input support, screenshot support, configurable HotKeys and more.

One thing they haven't seemed to have a breakthrough on yet is support for the "New 3DS", as it seems they've gotten a bit stuck on supporting how the 3DS schedules across multiple cores. They're taking a break on it so hopefully they will come back to it later with some new ideas.

Also, they've introduced Flatpak support to install it easily across all sorts of Linux distributions. Find their Flatpak details here or the other downloads here.
