As teased when it was accidentally leaked by Steam, Borderlands 2: Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary is out and it's temporarily free, although the Linux version is currently left behind. They did add Mac support to this new DLC a few minutes later, so perhaps it will be soon.

I've already emailed Aspyr Media to get a statement on when we can expect this to work on Linux, plus we're still waiting on the update to Borderlands 2 for Linux to get the Ultra HD Texture Pack. Hopefully Aspyr Media won't keep us waiting for too long. As for the DLC, here's more about it:

Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary takes place shortly after the events of the main story in Borderlands 2. Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault Map has been stolen, and a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora. You’ll step back into the boots of legendary Vault Hunters Maya, Salvador, Axton, Zer0, Gaige or Krieg to battle new bosses, explore new areas, and collect new loot, including an entirely new tier beyond Legendary. Join up with Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to take on a deranged villain hell-bent on claiming the Vault Map for himself.

If you haven’t played Borderlands 2 to completion, don’t worry, you’ll still be able to jump right in and enjoy this story expansion. While veteran players can pursue the new level cap of 80, newcomers will be able to create a brand new level 30 Vault Hunter at the Select Character screen and dive straight into the action.

The DLC will be free until the end of July 8th, where 2K said in the press email it will be $14.99. If you grab it before July 9th at 7AM UTC it's yours to keep.

You can find it on Steam.

Quoting: NanobangIs it possible (or even recommended ?) to use D9VK with Proton-as-SteamPlay (as opposed to, say, Proton-as-separate WINE alternative)? If so, how would a varmint like me go about making that happen?

it's easy download latest D9VK version here

Then go to the folder where your steam games are and look for the Proton folder of the version you want to replace, let's say it is Proton 4.2, extract the D9VK file and replace those in /Proton 4.2/dist/lib/wine/dxvk and /Proton 4.2/dist/lib64/wine/dxvk

In the Proton 4.2 folder there is a file named proton, edit it to replace the line:

dxvkfiles = ("d3d11", "d3d10", "d3d10core", "d3d10_1", "dxgi")

by:

dxvkfiles = ("d3d9", "d3d11", "d3d10", "d3d10core", "d3d10_1", "dxgi")

Another way is to put d3d9.dll from D9VK next to the game executable, and then modify his launch options as follows:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d9=n" DXVK_HUD=fps %command%
(DXVK_HUD=fps is also to make sure it is using d9vk)
Each way has his pros and cons
See also here, because it doesn't start with proton without a little modification:

Why on earth is DLC platform specific

Damn game runs native, why the hell does either this or the texture pack need "Porting"?

Why wasn't it necessary to "Port" every map/Mod that was made for UT99 ?????

Sorry, Rant over. :(

Still **** we're not getting BL3 :><:

They may have added features to support new weirdness. Hard to say with these type of games.

I doubt we will see the DLC ported to Linux , and same for Borderlands 3 we just heard nothing from either Gearbox or Aspyr about it sooo I guess they won't be makin' it anytime soon ...

There are Linux depots for both the HD patch and the DLC. Nothing has been uploaded to them (yet), but they exist.

Thank you for the tip! It works with other games too, like Murdered Souls suspect in Dx9 mode.

Quoting: sergeit's easy ...

So many things are, but it takes someone (I'm looking at you serge) who will take the time and patience to explain things clearly and concisely for it to become easy for others.

Thanks for being that someone, dude :)

Not entirely sure why people are so happy with Proton on this one. After the rename fix, it ran reasonably well but with some initial stutter. However, zooming weapons gives fairly major graphical glitches. Example:

Tried it with D9VK. Initial stutter seemed a bit less, but a different set of graphical glitches:

Patterns in darker areas/shadows:

These are really annoying as they give sort of a moiré effect when moving.

Then there is the character introduction cut scenes:

Which is broken beyond use.

Can't comment on performance as both options give > 100 fps for me.
